There's a storm brewing...

this thread has been quiet last hour or two; but anyways, can you tell us if HTC CEO is correct when he said they have shipped you guys the devices?

AND

According to your quote above, WHY have they not started shipping? Doesn't vzw want to move inventory and make $$$? I dont know many companies who would HOLD their merchandise after they bought it (if they did).
All i mean is that, everyday that that technology is siting on vzw's "Top Secret" shelves in their warehouses or wherever, is just another day to add to how old the technology is.

(please take my post not in a negative tone, just trying to understand how it all works)

He addressed most of this earlier.

They are basically ready to sell the devices (so yes they have received them), but there are some holdups for a variety of reasons, one of which was the idea of stockpiling the devices so they had enough supply for first wave demand.

I am with you, however. It seems odd to want to stockpile devices. Isn't selling out of a limited supply of devices good PR, enticing others to want to check the phone out as well?

I'm starting to think that they are holding off until they can officially announce a data tiering plan. They don't want to grandfather anybody in for 2 years of unlimited 4G.

that's what I'm afraid of as well. :'( If I can't keep my talk and text plus data promotion with this phone, its a no go for me. I'll make do with an upcoming 3G phone for a couple years.

I am starting to believe this more and more.

thanks. i've been on top of every post though i may have missed that.

i agree. they could get even better PR with it being out of stock and on the way.

it's strange that only now they think they might not have enough. they knew they would have a big campaign for it with all these website ads, and tv commercials taking air time - it's strange if they thought only now, to increase this, ESPECIALLY if this was the case with the Incredible, no?

i bet you they have over plenty of iphone4 in stock, meaning, they can compute how many want (and dont want) the iphone4, yet when the Incredible ran out of stock they couldnt learn their lesson so that this doenst happen with another HTC phone? all this seems to just be putting HTC in the bad light even though it's not them at all.

Like everyone else, I am super frustrated. I have given up calling BB as they told me 2 days ago that it would be next week, and now people are saying April. I have my case and screen protectors but if it goes past March 17th, I'm moving on and will sell what I have to some other poor waiting soul. Ugh

its giving Apple and Motorola an advantage, that's what it is

more than that, they are royally screwing HTC. HTC can't be happy about getting the phone ready and shipped to Verizon only to have Verizon turned around and twiddle their thumbs for weeks on end. I wonder if this will have any impact on HTC's focus on carriers going forward.

I think HTC should take more control over what carriers can and can't do with there devices, they are the manufacturers of them after all

but at this point, I don't think Verizon cares, they just put this up (plus they screwed HTC over last year with no advertising of the Incredible (which was NOT related to the shortage either)
iPad 2 - Verizon Wireless

Oh...well...I guess we can hope for some kind of announcement next week.

Hopefully, and hopefully our friend Bennnnn can give us some juicy details before it goes down

congrats on getting the 700th post btw :P

I agree about the data cost now holding up the phone. If everyone says the hardware and network are a go and we still dont see any announcements that tells me finance is holding us up trying to figure out a 4G data cost!
