Who let the panda out of his cage?!?!

Hey Bennnnn and BMX, don't know if you know this or not, but any merit to the rumors that for "superphones" Assurion through VZW will be $18 a month per phone? That's expensive as [ish] if true....(told to me by a vzw cs rep)

So I just got an email this morning from BB not about my preorder, but about the 4g phones that I need to come check out today... TB in in there, but as coming soon.

Just wanted to share.

So Bennnnn.. stupid question maybe but you mentioned that there would be a grandfather period for unlimited data before they go to the tiered packages in the summer... assuming late april/early may for the Bionic, should I wait as I had intended or should I grab a bolt to lock it in?

I am a little less skeptical of Bennnnn. Only a little, but I'm willing to not totally dismiss his information now.

Thanks, Bennnn.

So just curious if anyone here had picked up the iphone when it was released and the reason I ask is simply from phone call I had today with Verizon. They said they have specific ordering system that went in place when iphone launched that locked out all possiblities of letting people abuse giving people early upgrades as well as early NE2 to entice them into the iphone.

Why I'm curious if anyone has heard of this is because as of my Incredible having issues a few weeks ago they offered to move up my NE2 date roughly 7 months to get me into a new phone to fix the issue. They are saying now that if the ThunderBolt is released into that ordering system I will not be able to get it for a few weeks until they unlock it for ordering to be allow manager overides on renewal dates. (Meaning NO ONE will be allowed to use any type of discounts or early upgrades to order the phone on initial launch, obviously doesn't include corporate type discounts)

So after calling nearly every day to check on possible release date I'm more then upset to hear oh by the way the offer we have been extending you won't be valid due to system that we have no control over and we are so sorry we have been lying to you for last 3 weeks. Anyways did anyone purchase an iphone through Customer Service and have to deal with anything similar to verify this is true? I have no intention of waiting 2-4 weeks before I'm "allowed" to have them satisify what they are offering to fix my current phone situation issues.

Either one will be find as far as unlimited plans go. So far we have the Bonic scheduled towards the end of April, but I would hate to see it get pushed. Tiered plans will begin to show up towards the end of July. You have a 2-month buffer so the choice is yours!

Wow! This is news to me!!

Bennnnn, I have sort of a random question: how often do new shipments of phones typically arrive at the stores? I've never bought a phone even close to launch and would prefer, within reason, to maybe wait out the first round in case of any overseen bugs that might be fixed by the time the second wave hits shelves. Or do you think that there's no real risk in getting it within the first shipment? Thanks for all your info and help throughout the wait.

We can count on the bionic being delayed. That pretty much will be a given. Not being negative, just the reality of how verizon is handling the releases of the 4g phones. My opinion of course.

I would like to say that there is some truth to this based on my experience. I got the iphone a week after it came out just to try it out in the meantime. I was going to keep it but I returned it two days before the return/exchange period is up. Now I can't upgrade anytime between then and when my NE2 upgrade is due.... but my NE2 is 3/17/11 so #WINNING?

I am kinda lost. Are you doing to say that VZW is not allowing annual upgrade? Haven't they been doing this no-annual upgrade for some time? Besides there is no NE2 now as well.

There is no more NE2 upgrades but you still get your final one if you haven't been eligible or used it yet. Once you upgrade it is gone forever.

NE2 DISCOUNT off the upgrade discount is gone, but NE2 is still there

The policy change only affects the discount we were getting when we used an NE2 upgrade. (no more additional $50 off that $200 NE2 upgrade price = $150)

essentially, it will be like paying the same price as a new subscriber when your using an upgrade now,
it won't be discounted beyond that

But yeah, upgrades are still there

I get one every 10 months when I sign up on a 1 year contract each year
and given the current situation with sequel devices, they seem to launch nearly every 10-12 months, so it makes sense to do a 1 year each time to keep ahead.

anywho, I'm going to be very upset with Verizon if this turns out to be a better device than the ThunderBolt (besides the rumored 3D screen that is)

Sprint announcing Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View tablet at CTIA? -- Engadget

I already had my eyes on the HTC Flyer tablet, (same size as the galaxy tab)
but it seems to me that Sprint is using the EVO name the same way Verizon is the Droid name

I get that and my last one is coming up in September. What I don't understand is what this new specific ordering system is all about.
