As someone who had the Fascinate, I would say beware. They have YET to release a froyo OS. And while there is a lot of great development support on XDA and here, my personal experience was "one step forward, two steps back" and it was not in any way the developers' fault. For example, Bluetooth worked as expected with my car stereo with DL30, and then promptly got broken with EB01.
But the biggest issue I had, and the reason I finally called Verizon and complained...is that the battery took a TANK dive. Now you could argue that this will better prepare you for a Thunderbolt future
What I'm getting at is while the Fascinate is one heck of a piece of hardware, the OS leaves a lot to be desired and I've given up hope. Having bought it in September, it's now March, and Froyo was released last May...I find it completely unacceptable we haven't released a finely tuned version of froyo from
Samsung. And the devs can only work with what they get, which in my opinion is thus far junk. There is absolutely no reason my battery should have tanked like it did. And believe me, I tried every way upside down to install the OS "clean" and still couldn't get my battery life to even out.
So...called Verizon and complained that the phone doesn't work as it was advertised it would and they have sent me a Droid X. It's a big phone, and I'm a girl so I was a bit worried...but I'm actually liking it quite a bit. They sent me the extended battery (only 1 mm thicker than the standard) and I am getting a full day out of it and better quadrant scores. Actually for a stock phone I think the quadrant scores are insane. I think last time I ran it it was 1400...higher than the Nexus S whatever that topped out at.
So....long story short....if you want a very worthy workhorse that can probably get you through the day, I say check out the Droid X.
Crisy: I know you have mentioned the Incredible...I'm guessing it's because you are very sold on HTC. Don't be afraid to take a look at Motorola. Everyone complains about Motoblur but I've got LauncherPro running over it and I'm pleased. I miss a few things about the Fascinate such as the widgets to turn on/off some power settings in the notification bar, but I just added a widget bar one screen over and I'm o.k. with it.
At this point, being thus far happy with the Droid X...I'm seriously considering just waiting it out for the Bionic.
Wow...I got long winded. Apologies.
