There's a storm brewing...

I'm a beer-drinker in the Boston area and I've never even heard of that brew, much less seen it, lol. I Googled it to confirm it's existence though, ha ha. Apparently, it's a rare, specialty brew that's only available on tap, which explains why I've never seen it, as I don't go out to bars very often.

On topic (kind of), how much do you think I'd have to slip a VZW employee to get them to move my NE2 upgrade date up, so I can get the TB upon release? $50? $100? :p

They moved my NE2 up a month. I emailed them.

seen that yesterday.............. didnt want to read 500 postings to find out if someone had posted....sounds fishy..........

Really. What sounds fishy about it? I think it makes a lot of sense. I think you guys are really gonna be disappointed Friday after next. Don't get me wrong I've wanted this phone since I discovered it back in December but I've convinced myself it won't be until the end of this month. I'd love to be caught off guard and struck by lightning but I just don't put any faith in big corportations. I really think they are figuring out how to gauge our eyes out with the data plans.

The premise of the article is flawed and they tweaked the data to support their conclusions. Will people be unhappy next Friday when the phone is delayed? Yes. But I honestly believe the plan is/was to get this thing out on the 17th and the 24th would just be the week after (which is what it's been delayed to ever since the 14th slipped).

Yah, I remember you mentioned that before. When did you email them though? Was it before the iPhone launch? I ask because they informed me that, upon the release of the iPhone, they were told that they're no longer allowed to move NE2 upgrade dates up...

I won't be disappointed.

If no Thunderbolt, getting a Droid Incredible.
If data is greater than $45, getting Droid Incredible.

All set.

my only fear is that now if they announce 4g tiers, they'll restructure 3g too, for the iphone.

It was before the iPhone launch.

You raise a very good point. And if VZW hadn't said summer for tiered 3G comes this summer, I'd totally agree. But unless everything is flipped upside down, it will probably just be LTE that is tiered for now. 3G in Q3

I totally agree with what you said. I had Sprint when I lived in Kansas City and even though their 4G is not as fast as Verizon's will be it chews ALOT of data and very very quickly. Now if you throw in Netflix and cloud, you could chew through 5 gigs in less than a week, literally. So unless they do unlimited which its not looking like it, ANY tiered plan at this point is going to be pointless. At this point, I honestly don't think this is the phone for me anymore. With Sprint I was using around 8 gigs and that was with no Netflix or Cloud. So I honestly can't see Verizon offering unlimited and if they do it sure as hell won't be 30 dollars. I don't think it would be any less than 50 to be honest. So I think I am going to go over to at&t and get my unlimited back while I still can and get the Inspire and be grandfathered in because their hspa+ is already going where I am at and its not as fast as true 4G yet, its still getting around 5-7 which I am happy with because I can use as much as I want. I was really hoping this thunderbolt thing would work out but its became a nightmare and just continues to get worse.
The point was not the method, it was the logic. Faster speeds chew through data much faster (duh). Netflix, Google Cloud services, etc. are great, but they'll be burning data faster than we're used to. Capped data is going to be a major problem with LTE, even for normal users.

I did it too.....Back in Feb. ....when my upgrade was on March 4th!!!! Worthless now, but they do do it....just be real nice and if you get a NO, hang up, call back, and try again.O:-)

supposedly, there weren't supposed to be any tiers until summer. but with the cdma network being rebeefed for the iphone, i could see it happening... there is something going on that we are all totally missing and are totally unaware of, and all the rumors are throwing us off the scent. vzw's lack of transparency is really off-putting at this point, as i thought we'd have some sort of announcement or statement or at least another "coming sooooon"... but nothing. ugh

Ok, this may sound like a dumb question but here goes anyway:
Let's say I buy a TBolt 4G phone and there is NOT an unlimited 4G data plan. Doesn't the TBolt require a sim card for the 4G? If so, I wonder if it would be possible to purchase the TBolt and not have the 4G sim card but instead use it on an unlimted 3G plan and have the option to then get the 4G some time in the future.

Good question.

It requires the sim card, so there is no way out.

I don't know if that is technically possible I know there has been discussions but I did not follow them. From a support/ customer service / billing perspective... it would be very difficult on the VZW side. (I assume)
