Best Buy Mobile just tweeted in response to someone's question that they still don't have a release date and that the notifications are going out because they have some kind of new system.

Which is fine, but it doesn't address the idea that the managers are learning of how much stock they are going to possess on launch. That's a very good sign, but maybe not enough to place the release next week.

Supposedly your RZ # contains all the info they need, so instead of having to ask all the info, they pull it up via that number and ask you to verify it.

How does advertising with BBY Mobile work? Do the carriers pay for the ad space or the phone makers? Because if HTC is paying for the ad space (I've noticed an increasing amount of HTC Thunderbolt Ads on websites) that could explain why they were (supposedly) unhappy with Verizon over the delays. More speculation, but my two cents. Take it with a grain of salt. The Thunderbucket's coming SOON....

Ha, I used to work in that field. Almost all the advertising is done cooperatively, as there are tax breaks to doing it that way. HTC and VZW will both contribute to a pot (managed by a third party) that pays for mutual advertising for the product. They can both do extra advertising on the side, but they forgo the tax breaks that way.

Of course, there are legal agreements that go along with such a structure, and if you see ads pulled quickly or something like that, it can indicate one party feels the other isn't completing its side of the bargain. Good observation.
