I'll be switching from a BB Tour. I already downloaded google sync and have synced all my contacts to my google acct. What I want to know is does EVERY contact in your gmail e-mail contact list get added to the phone when you sync it? Is there a way to have ONLY the phone contacts added? I really don't want all 500 contacts added to my Thunderbolt phonebook.

Create another Gmail account. Export all contacts from one and import them all into the new account. Delete all but the phone contacts. Use that account to sync you new phone to. Or, vice versa, if you want to keep the original email address...

I am encouraged that the TV ads are running. Not at the frequency they did (further evidence of a botched launch) but they are running. The majority of the evidence is pointing to this being the launch week.

I like how everything on the first post is readily googleable on the internet. You know less then the people that know how to google.

Yes, I almost always search the forums I like with google instead of the built in search tools. Try this google syntax:

hi all. im a refugee from.... well ... the other forum... i have been a long time lurker, but never signed up, till i got fed up with the oppressive mods over there. nuff said.

what i don't understand is why vw has to send it back to HTC for approval of "future updates". isnt this something they can work out down the road? lets focus on getting this phone out, and then worry about updates. any real insight?

Could also be confirming any info he has.. With all the "Hoop-la" that has surrounded this device, I imagine most bloggers double check tbolt info.. i know we do.

In the contacts/dialer apps you can choose to show only the contact groups you care for (default: only My Contacts show). That being said, make sure the contacts you want to hide are NOT part of My Contacts or any other groups you decide to unhide in your dialer/contacts app.

The best part is that hiding the contacts should not affect anything other than the phone book app, i.e. you can still email everyone with the Gmail name/email auto complete feature.

I'm not watching TV today (rarely do...) but a few posts back someone just mentioned they saw a TB ad on ESPN. I'd guess it was one of the 2 or 3 VZW ads.

Yesterday I posted a question about grandfathering of unlimited data and did not get a single reply. That was during the rash of discussion on tiered data plans. It is related to the TB because many of us not yet on VZW might make out very nicely by buying a phone and returning it promptly for the TB. My original post is here.
