There's a storm brewing...

Why is that anything to laugh at? I have a feeling it will be that date or later. I honestly don't think we will see it this week. Honestly I would be surprised if we saw it this month.

Seriously? How could you do anything but laugh at that? I reads like a well written article that was put in a blender and THEN published. It's a mess.

quite possibly the most difficult article I've ever read. I had to go through it a couple times to fully comprehend what I was seeing.

an example:

The HTC Thunderbolt has however to be given a politician unharness date but it continues to indicate up in Best purchase circulars each week and therefore the electronics reseller has taken pre-orders for the device virtually 2 months ago

lol.

Theres an article by gather questioning if the TB release has been delayed by the earthquake in Japan. They stated that Ipad supplies have been delayed due to that, and eluded that Verizon/HTC might use the catastrophe as an excuse to further delay the TB.

Now I'm no genius, and I'm not sure where Ipad parts come from, but I do know that HTC devices are manufactured in Taiwan and China, so I don't see how anything in Japan would affect it. Secondly, if TB is one, max two weeks from launch, the shipments should already be in the US.

Finally, if in fact the TB is delayed to the terrible earthquake in Japan, I won't get upset at all. However, I would expect either Verizon or HTC to man up and make an official statement. I know Verizon can fall back on the fact they never announced a launch date for not updating it's customers, but to do so would be horrendous customer relations as a lot of folks are anxious to get this phone.

Well I am not saying its a well written article by any means. I was just saying the dates wouldn't surprise me at all.

Yea, its a joke at this point to be honest. I don't know how they could use it as an excuse when the phones have been in the states for weeks now. BUT, I wouldn't be surprised if they used that as an excuse. Anything to give them more time or another excuse to use.

I don't know 100% sure but a couple of my hardcore tech friends say it is the fabled scorpion processor, which originally was the first 1.2GHZ processor from qualcomm the FIRST to have LTE/3G support on one chip with the integrated Adreno GPU.

its still possible this could be another version of it thats only able to handle 1ghz

Inspire 4G i saw was overclocked to 1.8ghz (stable)

I was looking over on Qualcomms website and looked for the Processor a few weeks back and they have it listed at 1.4 GHz so Im guessing that its slowed down by HTC and Qualcomms 1.4 is conservative

Thanks NCX, you rock!....this makes sense to me now especially connected with the other info on the handoff that came up last week.

It should be noted that the editors that left Engadget were very pro Apple. Also, on topic, VZW won't release this device without 4G. It will kill the device, hurt VZW and anger HTC.

Thats what i thought, so it IS the fabled 1.4ghz scorpion after all.

Imagine the power we can get from this when its rooted and overclocked :P

My mouth is watering :'(

first thing i do is root. (and i know how)

Same here but i think i'm going to wait this time till they update the phone with HTC Sense - HTC hub support with the Gingerbread update.

its also possible if the phone is rooted we might not have a working Netflix/Hulu app because of it detecting security.

Thats true but what would you do if your device was getting bested by the competition and was delayed consistently because of the network wasn't ready for LTE? Would you want to keep delaying it and cause alot of people more anger from being teased and taunted and finally they give up and move on to another device? Or would you want to get it out as a working phone that can be UPGRADED to 4G when its ready / stable. The way Verizon and HTC can do this is by waiting until another 4G LTE mass market launch, which is expected before the summer months arrive. Remember there launching 140 markets this year (i hope mine or close to me is one of them)

I'm not saying thats the real reason because really, i don't know, so its just my theory on what Verizon is requesting HTC to approve, and from the sound of things, they approved whatever the request was in a timely manner otherwise the HTC regional sales rep wouldn't have tweeted the 17th, delete it, and then not long after delete his twitter account. (hopefully he didn't get canned)

One possible thing Verizon can do since this is a MAJOR launch is to announce the phone this week, and not even have it ship until the end of the month, they did this very thing with the Incredible last year.

Announcement came on the 15th of April, pre-orders began on the 19th, and they were on sale in stores on the 29th, pre-orders shipped the following monday and arrived that tuesday with wednesday being the latest.

They do pre-orders for major launches, which is what leads me to believe the "launch dates" line HTC gave in there tweet/facebook post was hinting at that being a possibility.

DON'T need it on HTC Sense phones :P

just need to edit your PRL profile address in EPST and voila, free hotspot using the official app

best thing about the app is you can still use the internet on the phone while sharing it with another device. On the marketplace apps you can only share the connection and not be able to use the data on the phone. (unless this has been changed since i last used it)

BUT it doesn't require root to access EPST and get it for free either.
