Seriously? It's not top secret government news. They're phones.

We got memos all the time telling us when the target date is as well as training materials.

I leaked info to CrackBerry and AC about Storm 1 and the Original Android. PDFs and rebate forms.

You didn't just walk into work that morning and suddenly there's a new phone there for you to sell. You get a heads up and inventory prior.

Once again, I go back to my Samsung Fascinate experience which was also eagerly awaited after all other carriers had already launched their versions of Galaxy S. It was announced just two days before launch and there wasn't an onslaught of leaks prior to the release. There were a couple "reliable" leaks .. that was all. I would say most VZW reps did not know about the Fascinate launch date until the announcement was made.

Last year Verizon very quietly launched two of their eagerly awaited android phones - Droid 2, and shortly after that, Fascinate. Maybe they will do it so this time as well, although it seems unlikely as it is touted as their "Flagship" 4G phone unless the Flag is handed over to Bionic.

I'd be happy with an official announcement today or tomorrow even if the phone is actually launched next week.

I agree completely. It's weird that this phone is going to launch in 3 days but there hasn't been actual shot of an inventory screen, confirmation devices are shipping, etc., let alone an official announcement. Doubt it's happening this week.

My Guess would be an annoucement tomorrow, pre-orders Thursday and release Thurs 3/24.

If it was 3/17 I think we we being seeing more leaks by now, unless everyone recieves thier shipments today. I think that we will know by this afternoon by the amount of info or lack of info that is making news today.

well if we look at what we have so far we have:

imran (from htc's) tweet that the phone would come out the 17th
Bennnnn telling us we're on pace for the 17th
i can't find the link now, but there was a leaked best buy document that had the 17th as the launch date

i've been hearing the 21st and 24th tossed around on some websites but without any evidence at all. one suggested the tsunami would lead to a delay, one said to look at the patterns of releases (every two weeks).

so i'm not getting my hopes up for anything but I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear an announcement today or tomorrow. also wouldn't be surprised if the lack of leaks is because verizon finally got fed up with all the rumors being spread by their employees and cracked down somehow

I agree, especially with no mention on 4G pricing. I love Verizon, but they are always the last to get everything. Both Sprint and AT&T have 4G phones, but of course, Verizon is last to follow.

It's not that straightforward. There are inventory systems, shipping partners, Best Buy, Store Employees, Call Center Employees... there are a lot of people to notify and a lot of different channels (I'd imagine) to do it.

If it looks like the 17th and smells like the 17th and sounds like the 17th then it's the 17th. Come on now guys I know everyone is skeptical and I understand cause I am kind of to, but it's going to hppen this week. By Thursday we will all be having and great day playin wit our new tb's.

With all the things that are happening it points to the the next 7 days. I hope it is Thursday, and like I said if its going to be the 17th things should start breaking loose today or tomorrow. There has to be a leak of some of some sort from regular VZW employees. Stock will start arriving and someone will get a picture.
