Grammar aside, that's a really bizarre move by VZW. This is their big new LTE phone, online presales only make sense.

I have high blood pressure from all the grains of salt I've taken as a result of this thread so I started throwing them over my shoulder for good luck. The rep at my local verizon store said "they still didn't have a release date, but they expected to know more tomorrow"... I take that as "an official announcement will be made tomorrow"...

I just called the local verizon corp store by my office. I asked about the release on Thurs, and he said there is no release date, just speculation. He told me to go on the website and enter my email address. I explained I did, already (he did too!). he said they usually know a week before the release date about the phones. I have a feeling this will be an exception to the rule.

Whew! Went on-site with a customer for a few hours and just got caught up here. Based upon everything that happened while I was away, I tried to call the BBY I pre-ordered from and no one would answer the phone. 
I then called one of our local VZW stores (not the same one I went into last week). The rep kind of chuckled when I asked about the phone and said it was "Coming Soon." I laughed and told him those words were starting to grate on my last nerve. He started cracking up at that point and told me not to worry and that they actually had meaning now versus every time I had heard them before. He said to get ready if I wanted one.
I asked if he thought they would do a pre-order. He said he was told they weren't going to and that they would be sold on a first come first serve basis. He took my name and number and said he'd call me as soon as he had one to sell me.
So...the race is on between BBY and VZW. I'll buy it from the one that actually calls me first. Please let that be on the 17th!!

Well, I got an incredible last week. If the thunderbolt doesnt come out thursday i am changing to the x
A few things:
1) LTE will be able to scale much higher than HSPA+, so we'll easily be seeing increased speeds in existing cities by the end of 2012 while rollouts are occurring elsewhere.
2) Those are average speeds, which seem messed up because the average in Las Vegas on a loaded network during CES was something along 20Mbps. 6.5Mbps does seem low for such premium service, but I assume it's because PC World tested in more crowded areas (i.e. New York over Trenton). Can't really average the speed when tests are done in only 12 of the 38 markets.

These numbers ring true, I get 10Mbps internet here, and that translates to 1.2MB/s (bytes not bits) multiply that by 3.4 and you get nearly 5MB/s

I have no idea where they are getting an average of 6.5mbps. Everything I've been seeing has been at least 20mbps and our corporate Verizon rep has said that they've been getting 22-30mbps on every single test they've done. He also said that they give the 5-12mbps quote for a completely saturated network.

He said we'd be here for "days bickering about syntax." If by "days" he means specifically "three days" then we will be able to purchase a T-Bolt before we know it! Otherwise this wait is going to feel like forever.
