That sucks. That's one thing I'm worrying about when I get my 6P.

The AMOLED display is barely acceptable, it can't show white and most while showing white will have a difference in color temperature from one area to another.
Not a fan of the aluminum. Soft touch N5 was way better.
The power/volume buttons are in the wrong place, accidental touch every time I pick up the phone.
Still no SD.
Too tall for the screen size, make it thicker and tuck the speakers and whatever else under the screen, omnibalance need not apply.

If the 5X had 64GB that would have been the phone for me.

Nexus phones have stopped with SD cards, they are not coming back. They write too slow, and sometimes cause issues with the phone. Internal memory is more stable, and hella faster. From what you describe maybe the V10 would have been your phone.

I have so say my only 2 dislikes about this phone so far is that:

NFC payments get spotty on when they work when using other NFC apps (I used a credit card reader app to show someone how easy it can be to take some simple credit card info from an NFC capable credit card. I used my own card, my phone isn't rooted) and it seemed like NFC payments were dead after that until I rebooted. Worked fine after a reboot.

And

The AMOLED screen. It's a great screen, but I still every once in a while feel the pit in my stomach that at some point it'll degrade and I'll start seeing burn in. Nothing yet, and maybe it won't in the time I have this phone, but I guess I'll feel that way about any OLED screened device I own.

Otherwise, I cannot praise this phone enough for how absolutely beast mode it is with everything else I throw at it. I'm particularly fond of the relationship I have created with it and my Nexus player and Chromecast. Pure Google alllll the way. And my Bluetooth has been stellar. I have a Bluetooth audio aux dongle in my car and have never had a pairing issue. Super convenient. My Bluetooth headset never fails me, my Garmin vivosmart works like a champ, and my bluetooth profiles in the company cars pick it right up and hold it when I take them for a drive out on a work errand. Truly sorry for those that do have issues, but I'd go out on a limb and say its probably the other device causing the issues, not your nexus.


I do have to say that if this phone was any bigger, and I mean ANY bigger, it would probably not have worked for me. It still teeters on the line of practicality for some of my interests, and if this were the same size or bigger than the nexus 6 from last year I think it would be too much. That's not to say I don't enjoy having the screen real estate though, TV shows in bed have never been better!

I'm not all that worried for this particular panel, to be honest. I had a Nexus 6, which had an older Samsung AMOLED panel in it. After a few weeks, I saw the slightest bit of image ghosting of the nav bar... but I could only see it if a went looking for it.... a full-screen white background and in landscape... or one of those screen tester apps. And I could see where the main part of the screen was a smidge darker (screens fade as they age) and the hint of the nav icons (in reverse). And for the next 12 months or so, that didn't increase even the slightest. Again, I wouldn't know it was there unless I went specifically looking for it and fussed with my phone in a way that I would never otherwise have it set. So really nothing.

And looking at the 6P - which I've had about a month- I just fussed with it in the same way and there is nothing there. No noticeable reduction in the screen brightness above the nav bar.. no ghosting of the nav icons.

You're not allowed to say anything negative about the size being a bit too large for your tastes in this thread. Please edit your post to say the only thing wrong with the size is that you wish it was bigger, preferably 12" or larger screen. Alternatively you can edit your post to say that you're an ***** for buying the phone when there are smaller phones out there like the galaxy s3 or nexus 4. /s

Ohh, Almost had me until i reached the /s! TBH I love the size, but I do plan on taking it on the road bicycle with me in the spring, and that's just one of those specific niches that bigger is not better. I think I'll be able to manage it without it being too much of a pain, but if i had a nexus 6, for instance, that size would be pushing that barrier to a bit more of an extreme.

While I like that it has a fingerprint reader, I'm really starting to see why many vendors put them on the front of the phone and not the back. I've only had my 6P for a few days, but I was listening to music earlier and wanted to find another playlist, but it was a bit annoying to have to tilt my phone in its cradle a bit to use the fingerprint reader. Sure I could have just used the pattern lock I also set up, but that's not nearly as cool.

I also think this is the first phone I might get some kind of case or skin for. Coming from my M8 this phone actually feels even slicker in the hand, and given its size I don't feel too comfortable holding it one handed over hard surfaces. On the plus side I've been setting record times on trips to the bathroom.

Otherwise I'm still really liking this phone. Used it to watch some Venture Bros. via Hulu last night while working out with the wife, and the larger screen made it soooooo much more comfortable to watch a show while on an exercise machine. I might still look into getting a tablet at some point for even more comfortable viewing, but so far this will do the trick. Helps that our complex's gym is right across the street from our apartment, and my WiFi manages to reach the entire room.

1. The battery life is not that good. It always can't last till the end of my day. Main usage: Waze (the main battery drainer), web surfing and minor gaming (mainly clash of clans).

2. The volume and power buttons are too easy to press. Most of the time when I hold my phone, I accidentally pressed the volume or the power button..

Other than that, I'm happy with the phone.

you can adjust the battery percentage so it gives you a number (could still be tough to read if that's what you're referring to).

I'm surprised battery is an issue, I consistently get 5 hours SOT and easily make it through every day on a single charge. are you getting less than that?

I'll spare you the run down on battery saving ideas, I'm sure you've already checked out the threads, but unless you just get horrible reception, or haven't uncovered a rogue app, I'm surprised anyone would have an issue with the battery.

The battery life is just meh when compared to the iPhone 6+. I make it through the day but just barely with my 6P when the 6+ would more than make it through. Removing Facebook seemed to help...... it also seemed to be good for my soul. That is a whole other issue.

I fixed some of my other issues by rooting and installing a custom rom. Tap to wake is so great. It's tough to go with the custom rom option though. It's always a trade-off between features you want and features you will invariably lose.

The software overcomes all that, these are more annoyances I could do without but nothing else is offering the Nexus experience.

I really only use the SD for pictures and music. Other than that I can live with 16gb fine.

* The fingerprint reader is simply unusable for me. I guess my fingers are just screwy. I've pretty much given up on ever using it.

* I wish I could use my own SD card to gain the storage I need. But of course, they bake it into the phone instead (in part) so they can charge you for it. SD cards are plenty fast for me. It's not like I'm hosting web sites on my phone or some damned thing.

* I hate the speaking voice, and I wish I could change it.
