Things you DONT like about the HTC One?

So there's no more windshield wiper? Hmm my friend has beautiful widgets and she gets the wipers and I Used to have that app maybe I'll get it again. Thanks! I just liked the full weather animation when I turned on the power. The demos are all still there with sound.

Unless I am blind I don't see the Messages, Mail, Agenda Calendar widgets among others. They have a new calendar one but I don't like it as well.

ahhh ok I don't use any of those, I use gmail and google calendar apps

This is straight from the user's guide:

"After you?ve scrolled down a long list or screen (in apps such as Mail and People), touch the status bar to jump straight to the top of your screen."

It works every time. Lots of useful info like that in the guide. ;)
Very handy....God I wish google plus app would add this....

I'm not a fan of getting a MMS and having to click to download the image. This is the only phone I've owned in over 5 years that has me do this... so bothersome.

Samsung seems to handle mms pretty poorly also, I don't remember it being particularly awful in sense 4+?

I absolutely love the HTC One, but if I have to nitpick here are my main issues (especially coming from the nexus 4):
  • No wireless charging. That was nicer to have than I thought it would be.
  • Can't tell the power saver toggle in notifications to go away
  • Losing a couple nice touches in the latest JB like two finger swipe-down for quick settings.
  • App/widget management is clunkier than with vanilla JB
  • And, if I give in to super-obsessive OCD mode, then I can see the bottom metal speaker face is just the slightest fraction of a hair off overhanging on the left hand side. I didn't even notice it until a thread about gaps had me peering at my phone with my eye a scant couple inches away from the phone and looking all around it.

So, no serious flaws IMO, just these very minor annoyances that fade into triviality for me any time I look at that beautiful screen or listen to music via speakers or headphones.

To ease some suffering :-)
Press and hold battery saver notification, click app info then force stop, will start again when you get you 1st low battery notification at 14%

Coming from the Nexus 4, I really miss the expandable notifications found in JB 4.2. It was great being able to expand emails in the notification shade and delete or respond to them quickly. Also when you took a screenshot, you could expand the notification and have the option to share it. Also just another minor gripe is the symbols and font on the top of the screen that displays WiFi and the other various functions that kick in from time to time. The font in stock android was more minimal and professional. I find the One's to be a little blown-up. Of course these few small negatives are drastically outweighed by the multitude of benefits the One brings to the table. On a side note, I picked up my Nexus 4 this morning and couldn't help but think that it felt cheap compared to the HTC One.

The way HTC implemented the capacative buttons was a deal breaker for me. I don't want to do long presses or double taps to launch Google Now or the Multitasking screen considering those are probably the two most frequent actions I do on the phone

But you could put Google Now on the dock if you want easy access. I would guess that multi-tasking could be accessed there too if you use a launcher. In fact you could use a gesture with a launcher to access google now with a swipe over the dock.

I can't see small issues like this being deal breakers, but that is just me.

They got rid of the full screen weather. It was some of the unnecessary 'chrome' that gave sense a bad name.

I also believe they got rid of stay awake. I cannot find it anywhere in the developer options either.

And I downloaded power toggles to try it and can't figure out how to add them to my notifications when I swipe down

Power Toggles has a stay awake toggle. To get the toggles in the notification you have to click "Enable" and it will light blue. You can also choose to Pin on top, and it will stay at the top (under the power saver, so not completely on top). To add stay awake, go to "Configure", "Add toggle", "Display", "Screen Always On".

Let me preface this by saying I like the phone a lot... 9 out of 10.

But since you asked about dislikes, here we go:

The damned GPS icon - this is #1 on my list, because it's the one thing I can't change. The persistent icon only shows whether GPS is on or off. There's another icon that shows when the GPS is in use, that's enough! A waste of space on the status bar that distracts from useful icons..

Don't know what you mean. The GPS icon only shows up when GPS is on.
Power Saver Notification - this app constantly shows a toggle notification in your notifications tray with no option to disable it. I went to app info and force closed it there, but that needs to be done on reboot. Annoying and yet another thing my brain has to filter out.

ehh, how often do you reboot?

Jump to the top of Blinkfeed and App Launcher - There is only 1 quick way to get to the top of those screens once you reach the bottom and I'm willing to bet most people haven't figured it out yet. Scroll down and up really quickly to get the menu bar to display, then click a new category. It's a very awkward and doesn't work consistently. I was already getting used to Blinkfeed, but I'll have to abandon it to install a 3rd party launcher.

If blink feed is your home screen, hit home. If not tap the notification bar. And you can have blink feed with 3rd party launchers, if you want.

The App Folders - it looks horrible. It turns the icons in those folders into tiny little squares that's hard to see until your eyes focus. Compare that with the stock Android folder icons and you'll want to change launchers immediately (assuming you use folders).

Yeah, get another launcher

The Gallery - why? whyyyyyyy can't we select more than one photo at a time? why? why??? W T F. If you want to use all the features of the HTC One, such as Zoe and burst shooting mode then you MUST use the built in gallery. Just try using a 3rd party gallery and see for yourself. (I do have a suspicion as to why, but it can be fixed with some imagination).

No sure what you are missing here? If you are in all photos you should see thumbnails. Hit share and you will get selection boxes and a notification to choose which you want to share. Is that what you are looking for? otherwise I don't understand what you are missing.

The Alarm Status Icon - this is minor, but still bugs the hell out of me. The alarm icon is with me all day long until I disable my alarms, which puts me at risk to forget setting it back at night. There should be an option to display the alarm only X number of hours before going off. I can download another alarm app, but would be nice not to have to.

I hear you don't like this, but I don't really get the angst on this. If I have an alarm set, I want to know it, I don't care if it is to wake me up tomorrow or for a meeting in 1 hour. I am thinking that when you go to sleep, you need to know at a glance your alarm is on, so seems you would want it to show at least 8 hours before it is needed.

These things make me hate the phone a little bit during the day. I'll eventually get around to solving them, but I'm annoyed I have to. Coming from near stock ROM on Galaxy Nexus for reference.

I don't really see anything here that can't be fixed except the battery saver notification with 1) more experience with the phone (gps icon/blinkfeed/gallery) 2) 3rd party launcher (folders) 3) apps from play (alarm)

The problem with that solution is that I can only access those methods from the homescreen rather than from anywhere. I agree with you it is a small issue for most people. But it's just annoying enough to me and a small group of others that I couldn't accept it.

I don't like that the gallery automatically displays pictures from my Facebook and Twitter accounts even though I've set them not to. I assume it is a bug

something in settings maybe? with mine i get the mms immediatly with no download, infact if i have my data and wifi off (at work to save battery in bad connection) i still get my mms messages. Picture just shows, shows in notifactions as well

Is auto retrieve checked under mms settings?

Not being able to change out the lockscreen icons is a big suck for me. I love the phone, but really like being able to customize. I hear that an upcoming ROM will work to allow that.

Also, after rooting I'm trying to remove bloatware and notice after a reboot it always comes back. I have no idea how, but it is. So a new ROM will cure that as well. Other than that I think it's awesome.
