Things you've discovered on Note 8?

I use a Case-Mate padded folio case w/naked screen on both S8+ and Note 8. Strangely enough these cases make the devices seem smaller (particularly S8+). I suspect due to padding the corners rather than relying on hard cases which accentuate the hard, angular feel of the extremes. Just a thought.

I would like to use a folio case, but haven't found one I like yet.

I know...... right?

Wake up in the morning, my beautiful Black note 8 is out of its Spigen case, and I start admiring the highest ever rated amazingly over the top infinity screen, download different wonderful wallpapers, and basically just gaze in awe of the display

Loving, loving, loving my Note 8!!!!!!!

I feel exactly the same way. This spigen case was built for the Midnight Black Note 8.

I discovered that the Apple airpod works better on the Note 8 than the iPhone. When I get a call it goes directly to the airpod on the note 8 but not so for the iPhone. pleasantly surprised.

Just learned I can turn on my a Floating Camera Button to make it easier to take pictures when my hands are in an awkward position

also Mighty Text works better than Pushbullet. the text on the desktop sends it instantly. this is more of a app suggestion lol but I do like mighty text a lot when you want to text on a PC computer via Chrome.

Also just found "custom chat" for bixby, not quick commands.

custom chat, at least im pretty sure thats what it was called. In custom chat you can type in what you want to say for a command and then type in what bixby will say in return. example of the one i setup below.

My command to bixby: Is it the boys bedtime?
Bixbys respone: Yes it is time for you boys to go to bed

this is the only one ive setup so far for when the boys decide to say its not bedtime i can have some fun lol
Yes! I am currently using that feature so my bixby can talk to my Google home for me lol.

So Google home now control my home and bixby just talk to her so I only have to talk to 1 assistant but I get multiple tasks completed. I love bixby!

For example: at night time I used the good night commands to have bixby tell Google to turn off my lamp and read me a bed time story. And in the morning you turn the lights on etc. However, I just use 1 short command.

I haven't tried it yet, but my N7 wouldn't recognize with or without my glasses. this would be an improvement if it works for me.

Wipe yoour eyes in the morning before iris unlock, especially if after drinking. It doesn't like clogged foggy eyes. other than that great.

that's actually kind of funny in a twisted sort of way.

Why did the Note 7 battery explode?
Answer: Because they took them all out and put them in the same "safe disposal site" that prompmptly burnt to the ground for insurance rather than figuring out what to do with several million pocket sized incendiary deviced.

OK, so it was probably the most unbelievable coincidence in history since it was generaly the constraint within the 7 casing that caused burnage.

Yes, the big adapter is an OTG. They primarily include it if you were to use smart switch but it can also be used for a variety of things like charge another device in a pinch, plug in a wireless mouse usb receiver into the OTG and you can have a pointer on your phone and others (google and youtube) . The smaller is a micro-usb to usb-c adapter so you can use old micro-usb cables to charge your phone.

And no-one discovered Smart Switch on here before now.

Transfer all your stuff (old SMS, Alarm times and more) that google doesn't directly phone to anothere and remind you of the 80s with the modem connection sound in the process

The Google Now launcher doesn't work well with the Note 8. I can't seem to figure out the app drawer. None of my downloaded apps can be seen.

Yes, I got the same issue. I was using Dodol Launcher but I think the Touchwiz is still faster than any other launchers. Logically to me, I feel Touchwiz the default skin should be the fastest one right? I tested out different launchers but they all get rid of the bixby page which I like and use.

Some things I've noticed that I don't think have been mentioned here.

Smart Lock with trusted device: My phone remains unlocked while in range with my Pebble watch. Works great with Unlock With Home Button and No Need for OK on PIN. I have iris detection should there be a bluetooth glitch.

Disable Floating Icon for Air Command: It kept popping up in drawing apps when I got near it. Now I just click the pen side button.

If you have a favourite widget that now looks too small on the new, amazing screen you can adjust this in Settings->Display->Screen zoom and font
Shunt the zoom to the middle and then drop the font size town 2 notches to compensate.

In the gallery, inside an album, you can pinch and zoom to adjust thumbnail size.

Black backgrounds save a shed load of battery. They also look nice with the case of the black edition of the phone.

You can also download dark themes from Walpapers and themes so that things like settings and phone etc are dark. I use Material Black.

Substratum is great for setting dark themes across non Samsung apps.

Holy Moly.

If you've imported all your photos from your previous phone try clicking on the bell at the top to see collages and animations it has randomly created from photos taken within short time frames.

If you have photos and videos that were taken thoughout a day try looking in stories to see if it has created a sparkly video following the day through.

I found that, with photo's, they didn't transfer. Instead they went to the Samsung cloud, and only screen-sized-thumbnails were put on my new phone. Not ideal if you're often out of coverage - gif's especially didn't work until downloaded from the cloud.

This was HTC One Max to Note8 btw.

It's better from Samsung Note 5 to Note 8 - it was nearly flawless. No going to any cloud. It's a cable attaching the two devices.

Ah. I skiped Samsung Cloud at set-up. I'm already synced with my gmail account and I didn't want possible conflict or double data usage.
