Things you've discovered on Note 8?

Yes.. sorry i added wording like zoom to better explain it.. Your exactly right.

On the current YouTube version, there is a button called crop to screen. I think that is what you are looking for. It makes the video fill the entire screen.

Update..... I exchanged my Sept build date for an August build date (same as the display model)... I then updated the phone and then the YouTube app (the YouTube aspect toggle never went away)... My N8 works as it should now.. Perhaps a Defective phone or corrupted software?? :)

I love that Bixby can chain together commands. For example.

Hey Bixby, Good night > Blue Light Filer + Do Not Disturb
Hey Bixby, Good Morning > Tells you day, date, weather, morning news, music

I can swipe down each and every individual email in the notifications to archive!!!! On my Note 7, I could only do the one email, and you would have to go into the app if you had more than 1 in the notifications window. This refers to the Outlook App and Gmail App

Mine just says it didn't understand. I tried good morning 😁

Discovered that the SPen from my old returned Note7 is identical and works on my Note8, now I'm using my black note8 with the blue SPen

S-Pen is still an S-Pen regardless of model. I have the Note 2, Note 10.1 and S-Pen with eraser. All work fine on the Note 8. Even my MS Surface Pro 2 Pen works on it. And the funny thing is that the SP2 Pen actually has better pressure sensitivity over the S-Pens. The harder I press the more darker and thicker the lines become with my SP 2 Pen in Samsung Notes. Only drawback is that it has an offset based on the angle the pen is held. And you can use different pens without the need to remove the S-Pen from its holder. You just need to turn off the S-Pen power save feature.

Some hidden things the Note 8 still has from its predecessors (but also dependent on whether the carrier blocked it or not)...

1) Developer Options: Settings>About Phone>Software Information - tap the "Build number" multiple times (it will even show a count down of taps) to enable it

2) Diagnostic Tools: Access the phone and press *#0*#

Discovered the download boost. Seems that When activated the phone uses wifi and cellular to provide an initial"boost" in download speed.

Probably well known because it worked on my S8+ too...

You can unlock your phone by simply placing your finger on the sensor. No need to hit the screen on/off button.

For those who used both S8+ and Note 8, do you feel any difference with the extra 2gb ram on Note 8?

For most users, there probably won't be any noticeable differences other then apps will not reload when you go back to them after several hours of using many other apps. That was always my biggest complaint on iOS with it's 2GB of RAM, apps reloaded all the time.

I still have both my S8 and Note 8, I'm keeping both because I have three lines on T-Mobile.

S-Pen had an "import pdf" feature in the N5 that's not in the N8. I sign lots of documents. I really need them to bring this feature back.

When you open a document.

Thank you. I'll give those a try. I was also able to download S-Note from google, which has all of the old features. I'll try these to see what happens.

HOW???????
Look for Note Buddy app in the google play store.
Yup. I paid for the pro version (had some credits in the store, even) to be able to adjust the volume. Easier than editing sound files.

I just downloaded lightsaber on/off sounds from Zedge, opened Note Buddy, and assigned those sounds to the S-pen in/out. The sounds were REALLY loud when I had my notification volume set to normal levels, so I dropped the S-pen volume to 20% in Note Buddy.

Now the lightsaber sounds are there, but not obnoxious. Perfect!
