Have you got screen off memo turned on? Device Settings (not app settings), advanced features, s pen, screen off memo

@Germanguy#AC That is how mine looked BEFORE I upgraded the version. You downloaded the new APK from APK Mirror and checked the version in Notes I assume?

Also , enable Signature color in the SPEN settings for the other option to show up.

That was it. I had signature color disabled.

Download Sound Assistant from the Galaxy Apps store and you can customize sounds volume/off for individual apps.

This way you don't have to fiddle with turning sounds on/off each time you want to use the camera.

I also use it to turn off sound in Chrome because I hate, beyond all ability to measure hatred, how videos auto play on a web page... and the setting in Chrome Flags to disable that does not work... go figure.

Anyway... far more convenient to use Sound Assistant.

So you can now take screen-off Notes in Yellow (or Purple if that is your Note's color), and have your Note end up in black color when you open Samsung Notes. This is awesome because trying to view a Yellow Note on a white background was not a great experience for me.

The option now appears in a new version of Samsung Notes 2.3.02.2 . While I couldn't get Notes to update to that version organically, you can grab the new version from APK Mirror here, and once you install it, the option to save Screen Off Notes in BLACK will appear in Samsung Notes settings as indicated here:

Just change the setting to "black" and you are set. This was a huge help for me.

p.s. There was a slightly newer version of Notes on APK Mirror that wouldn't install on my Note 9 for some reason, but this version works. Good luck.

I actually went out of my way to disable all background FB stuff because it's such a battery drain, so I can't comment on that (although I know that in the past, the Android FB app had always been lacking at best when it came to notifications). However, I don't think I've actually missed out on any text message notifications. FWIW, I use Android messages after having used the stock Samsung messages app the first couple of days and to the best of my knowledge, never experienced any missed texts.

I disabled the Facebook app and now have a link to Facebook on my home screen from chrome.
Works very well and no battery drain

Anyone know which keyboard is best for predictive text? I don’t recall which one I used on my N5 and I am hating not getting word suggestions and corrections. Though I get lots of bad auto corrects lol. Thanks.

Oh...still getting long delays in notifications in text msgs. Hubby texts me every morning to let me know where he is going to be as he is on the road. Today he texted me around 8am. I didn’t turn my phone on till after 10am. I texted him and asked why he didn’t text me and he said he did around 8am. We were able to text back and forth. It was another hour and around 11:30am before his msg from 8am popped up in my text msg. I have a delay with FB notifications too. TMO has been no help. Suggestions? Thanks.

You can still turn off the shutter sound within the app. At least I could.

Mine I could not I have factory unlocked and I checked the usual ways and on the Note 8 I was able to shut it off with Bixby but not on this one

I use SwiftKey as well. As for your other problem, could you be receiving delayed notifications because your phone is off? The text that was delayed was sent while your phone was off but got all the ones he sent right away while your phone was on. Just a thought.


Semi off topic: Are they really going to announce a new phone in October? Kind of makes me wish I held off on the Note.

I went that way too until the Facebook Lite app became available without having to use an APK.

Now the full Facebook App is disabled and the facebook Lite App version uses way less resources.
