I understand the OP, and I also consider it every now and then. The XL 2 is a very nice device. But for me, it's particularly because I'm in Cyber security and there have been 2 seriously different and dangerous vulnerabilities recently (Blueborne and KRACK), that it took Samsung a while to ship updates for (the Note had the Blueborne fix on the official release day, but the S8/+ took another month, and they took almost all of December to ship the fix for KRACK, and so far afaik, only T-Mobile has that).
Samsung's inability to keep up to date on security updates even after Google has made it easier to do, is becoming more problematic as more exploits that don't require users to do something stupid like click on a potentially rogue link or install unknown apks come out.
Both Blueborne and KRACK could be installed on to your phone without you doing anything to allow it other than having Bluetooth (Blueborne) and WiFi (KRACK) turned on.
Granted, the attacker would have to be within 20 and 35 ft of you respectively, but someone could sit at a Starbucks and just infect everyone there. I'm a Target by default because i work in Cyber security and folks have been attacking cyber companies more.
Having said that, the screen issues have been significantly overblown with the Pixel XL 2 (after the fixes). The V30 has the same screen, and it's a great screen. No, it's not at the Note's level, but if you don't look at them side by side, you wouldn't notice.
The blue coloring is there to the same extent in the Note 8. Since I never use my phone whole looking at it from a 45 degree angle, I really don't see what the problem is.
The Pixel 2 XL in the store at least feels quicker than the Note and has significantly better battery life. I'm not switching yet, but if T-Mobile handn't released the December update yesterday, I would have seriously considered it due to he KRACK WiFi exploit (which Google resolve in the December update).
