Thinking of buying the Galaxy Gear for christmas?

A good buy do you think? I hear since the update it is alot better for notifications which is big for me really like for facebook,twitter and espn..main reason i want it is when driving, walking in town, dog walking and generally being out and about without worrying about picking my phone out my pocket in busy areas,

I'm not familiar with the Pebble, so please don't take this as an attack. Can you make calls on the Pebble? The Gear also has a camera. Those two in my opinion are HUGE. Also, you can control your music with it, which I use a lot to skip tracks. S Voice is a nice addition, although I'd rather see it work with Google Now instead.

I say buy it. Shop around for a deal though, look at eBay, see if you can find it for cheaper than what it's going for.

the display on the pebble is totally different....i love using watchstyler to have whatever background i want. i know that the pebble is also able to be personalized, but in black and white only due to the display.

I'm fine with my Pebble.
I don't want to put my watch to my ear to talk or twist my wrist to snap a pic.

It's just an accessory for me to get my Notifications & the occasional Turn-by-turn navigation.
I've used it to reject a few calls & snap a few pics but that's not what I bought it for.

Still eager to see what Google comes out with (assuming they do).

I want one, but I can't wear watches at work. But on the bus to work it would be cool to see my notifications and control my music. I just don't think I would get that much use from it. Since I can't wear it all day. If the price was better I would consider it.
