Thinking of leaving Samsung S21 Ultra for iPhone 13 Pro Max...

Lol funny my comment wasn't based on those here either just people I know or occasionally run into out and about. Whatever new galaxy phone I get it always gets attention from iPhone users where they say sexy device or that device has me thinking of switching, but can never do it due to FaceTime(which I don't get) or iMessage(totally get). I will give credit were it's due. When Apple did that iMessage refresh they hit it out the park although I'm convinced they stole a few things from Verizon messages and Facebook messenger lol the reactions feature a long with a few others would be very welcomed on Android. That's about the only thing I could see myself wanting from iOS. Would be nice if they ever truly opened up the platform beyond iOS but Apple is much too smart of a company to ever make that mistake
No they have the followers with a closed OS. Someone suggesting that at the idea meeting at apple would be fired on the spot.

I never get that with the people I meet..I always get my iphone does what I need it to do.

Ha ha definitely fired on the spot. Badge privileges revoked immediately

I jump between both platforms I get the best of both worlds when I get board of one.

I have the 2nd gen 11 inch iPad Pro, it does well enough that I don't need to upgrade just yet.. and the Macs are 2017 & 2018, respectively. I didn't jump on the M1's because many of the apps I use weren't supported yet.. How are you liking the Galaxy Watch 4? Compared to my Apple Watch Series 4, the battery life is excellent.
I really like the galaxy watch 4, the battery life is pretty good. That has never been a concern. I just put it on the charger every night anyway. I can't stand sleeping with a watch on.

I don't use anything computer wise that can't be done on the m1. I will also say that roseta 2 is really good. I honestly can't tell you if the program is running on bare metal or via roseta 2.

I had the i5 2020 air and the m1 absolutely demolishes it in ever single aspect.

I am also happy that ipadOS 15 is upping allowed ram usage by devs. They will be able to fully use the M1 chip. I will probably have this iPad for a long time.

Anyone thinking the grass is greener over on the Apple side is in for a rude awakening, LOL.

Get past the "oooooh look shiny new object" phase and realize the freedom you will be giving up.
Tired of Samsung? OK get another of the 20x mainline branded Android phones.

As the only Android user in my house I get to see, on the daily, the drawbacks of crApple products and ecosystem.
If you don't like samsung and are in the United States. You are pretty much out of luck when it comes to android. The main reason why is that the vast majority of people in this country get their phones through their carrier via annual upgrades.

An example with tmobile my carrier, you have the choice of Samsung, Motorola, Oneplus. They have a few others that are random.

Verizon only adds Nokia and the pixels. ATT doesn't offer anything different from those 2.

You may think we'll just buy an unlocked device. Which is doable but the carriers block carrier features on phones not purchased through them. You may lose HD calling, and other features that branded phones get.

You also run into the phone not being listed as compatible with your carrier even though it has all the right bands. The carrier hasn't put that phone in their system.

Then there are the phone manufactures that are banned in the US as well.

While there may be a ton of phone manufactures for Android, you are severely limited in the US on what ones you can actually use. Your main choices here are a
Apple or Samsung.

This is why apple does well. They control the hardware and software.

You said everything perfect. I would also add this, buying accessories is a lot easier for iphone then Androids. You walk into any store and 80% or more of the space is for iphones.
I feel the accessory thing lately. Was looking to get rid of my airpod pros. Get something more specific to android. There are so many choices and each one does something a bit better than another. Yet the airpods do it all and do it all very well. I can still turn off noise canceling and all that as well.

Agreed. The only notable unlocked exception here would be Google Pixel.

This topic is amazing because I've had so many Samsung phones and for the 1st time I don't mind going to IOS I'm 35 and I have kids who have Iphones and I don't mind seeing the advantages and disadvantages of having an a iPhone. At this point it's more like an experience and I can always go back to that android phone. It's good to see what everyone has to say. I look forward to letting my opinion be 100% true and honest of what I think of an Iphone. I do have a galaxy watch 4 classic that I love and honestly I look forward to also buying an apple watch and seeing how great it is.

Same with me. The integration with family. The fact that I can send videos in full quality via text, that all my photos and notes are easily accessible in one app, one calendar, etc. The apps are better and it's undisputable. People say you can't arrange the home screen and that is true but you know what, arranging a screen is cool but having apps run in way better quality, way better fluidity is a worthwhile trade off. Even something as simple as a video call.. zoom, Whatsapp, Google, etc. where you could just use facetime on iPhone and there is no reason to use anything else The fact that android has to program for 500 devices shouldn't be the reason the end user has to have a crappy experience with a $1300 phone. It's inexcusable after 13 years plus deep of Android. And I've been here since day one with the htc g1. I love Android and always keep a flagship device around but my daily carry is now an iphone.

Crappy experience is an opinion. I'm able to do all the things you've described just fine from my galaxy even send full quality pics and vids via Samsung messaging feature called link share. One thing that I prefer about it that isn't available on iOS is that I can put a time limit on how long the pics or videos are accessible. I'm glad that there's a thing called choice because if it were for me having to exclusively use Apple devices I probably wouldn't be to interested in technology the way I am now which would save me a lot of money from never upgrading. All in all that truly wouldn't be a bad thing for my pockets

I can't believe you went there
The IR blaster got me, I thought I was listening to a Flossy review.

I wouldn't mind a swappable battery though. I remember when you could buy the spare battery kit that had a case for the battery. Battery died in phone, just swap out batteries. You could just plug the case in to charge the dead battery. That was a lot easier to carry around then a power pack.

Everything that's said here is why I'm switching lol

Yeah, devices with swappable battery's had their advantages. I just think discussins on all these features that are pretty much nonexistent have been beaten to death.
I just hope nobody mentions physical keyboard...oops!

You know the thread didn't start out that way but OP happy going to IOS and some of us remanence the glory past features dont worry pretty soon all phones will be the same

You're not wrong, but it's fun to discuss these old features...

Also, physical keyboards peaked with T9, come at me lol.

Agreed. The only notable unlocked exception here would be Google Pixel.

And for the first time ever, it looks like their hardware will actually be consistent and competitive with other flagships (the only real outlier being the SOC, for which only time will tell if its generated performance is worthy of flagship accolades).

So many people keep saying they would love a sidekick or a blackberry with a keyboard and I'm just like do you realize how big that would be? Lol. They definitely had a cool factor back then, but those just aren't practical today especially with trying to include wireless charging or water resistance. I'll take those to features any day over my beloved sidekicks...

I hope not. Choice is what keeps things interesting. Have me thinking back to the days when we would download different roms to get certain features or looks. Those were truly the glory days. I don't have as much time as I use to, but those sure were fun times
