Thinking of Switching from Note 3 to Nexus 5

I made the move from the Note 3 to the Nexus 5 on Sprint. Nexus 5 has LTE issues with Sprint.. and the battery life..... well if no one wants to us the word "sucks".... then I would say it..... "blows". Other than the battery life and the fact I can't tell when I receive a voicemail (no voicemail app on Sprint).... it's okay.

Sprint struggles here as well. On T-Mobile and loving life. Left big red and haven't looked back.

My battery life has been good, but not even close to the note 3. I was fully prepared for that.

Those who thought of switching over..may I ask if your Note 3 is running on 4.4.2 or 4.3? Its seems really smooth for my note 3 4.4.2 with Google now launcher.....I am thinking hard whether I should switch as well as the red N5 is sooooooOo seducive! Lol

Sounds great. ..does it charges as fast as an iphone? I knew my note 3 charges slowly with a usb 2 cable though

Never going back to a Samsung phone. Touch wiz on my note 3 killed my user experience and switching to a 3rd party launcher isn't my ideal solution.

I'm totally happy with nexus 5 after my note 3. I'm waiting for the new HTC one to come out.

Battery has been great after the new software update and the camera is not great but it's far from bad.

It's a pleasure using this phone and most of all build quality is far greater than the cheap feel of the note 3.

I think once you get passed the major differences (a battery life, screen size & s-pen) you'll learn to enjoy the Nexus 5. It's definitely will take some getting some used to it.

the N5 chargers pretty quickly. My iphone 5 charged much faster but its not that big of a deal.

I've had the Note 3 for a few months now and to be honest with you, I hate it! I hate it because the ergonomics suck, there are too many features I'm paying for I don't use. I don't think it's a bad phone, it's just not for me. It works flawlessly, but I can't get used to it, and I don't enjoy the experience. I'm very interested in the Nexus 5, a no non-sense phone that seems to do everything well at a good price point. I've heard rumors about the short lasting battery and average phone, so I'm reaching out to those who have the phone in their hands and use it everyday. I'm a power user...I use my phone for everything. Are these issues something I should be worried about? Will I be disappointed switching? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had the Note 3 and I traded it on Craigslist for the Nexus 5 32 GB model and some cash. I really liked the experience of the Nexus 5, but I will say that I regretted the trade after about a week. I like the screen better on the Note 3 (size and color saturation). I thought that the camera on the Note 3 was better. The Nexus 5 did seem snappier and I liked being able to use Google Wallet to pay for things, but in the end, it really didn't match up to me. The battery life is a lot better on the Note 3. There seems to be more accessories for the Note 3 as well. And if you are on T-Mobile you can use wifi calling.

The only thing I envy about the Note 3 is the battery life. Being burdened with Touchwiz is not worth the extra battery life though.

How did you do that ?

9H on screen? Ive had 2 nexus 5 and both was roughly giving me 2h 30m-3h of on screen time and that was on a good day and worse on a bad day. For those trading a note 3 in for a nexus 5 i would never do that. Battery life on the nexus 5 is really bad and it drains way to fast. Ive seen the phone lose 10% within a short of time with light usage eh thats not what im looking for. As my self im waiting on the s5,note 4 and i need a phone that has a non-removeable battery in it so

Anyone know if you can turn off the half effect sensor or do I need to dig the magnet out of my case? It keeps opening in my purse and destroying my battery.

Yes, 9h with screen on. Which phone do you have for that?
With my nexus I'm between 2h30 and 3h too. I am thinking about change for the note 3.

Same here but if i were you i would see whats up with the unpacked 5 event for the galaxy s5 which is what im doing but the note 3 has crossed my mind a few times as well. htc m8,LG G3 would be good options but after seeing what im seeing my next phone will have a removable battery for sure im just not to fond of non-removable batterys anymore even tho they may do alright but thats just me and i like the option of having a spare battery lying around when needed

I'm waiting too, I just know that I want a good battery life, I'm fed up with charging my phone during the day because I'm using my phone...

Then your unit was damaged. That is definitely not normal.

My results are consistent with his. I can get 6 hours on-screen time, depending on what I'm running.

LoL i feel you baiting sorta. Me,eliott and others on the internet has posted about the battery life in the nexus 5 so its not just bad units because ive had 2 of them do the exact same thing which im not about to waste money just to re-buy a nexus 5 and run into same issues that has happen before and seeing the drains ive seen no just no. People thats getting 6 hours of screen time lol yall must be turning everything off + some which isnt worth it either but fact is if you look around the web u will see that its a issue and that was a deal breaker for me even if the phone is pure android

I have both phones on AT&T and I struggle everyday about which to put my SIM in. (Poor me, lol.) The things I love about the N3 are battery life and the fact it has a removal battery and phenomenal screen. It's actually way too much phone for me since I don't use the spen and half the things this phone is capable of. Hate TouchWhiz. I installed Nova Prime which helps.
The N5 is just a lovely device: fast, smooth, simple. Swiping over from main screen to Google Now is terrific. It's a far better size for me. Battery life seems to vary day to day but by and large it lasts me through the day. The screen is not as vivid as the Note's, though.

You've got a custom rom, isn't it?
I've got the stock rom and I don't want to switch off most of the connections.
6 hours on screen time is impossible without let some sync on.
It's not my first Android device and I know how to configure it.
