i currently have an htc trophy, and i love the phone. i actually really like windows metro UI. however i recently drove from dayton to chicago and i really needed my navigation. bing maps just doesnt cut it. it will give me directions but i have to touch the screen for the next turn. i really miss google maps. not too mention a few other things, like some key apps. i am very familar with all mobile OS's but not this particualr phone. i have heard some good things and some bad things. thing is i dont really want to spend more than 200 bucks, and i am currently in a contract for awhile. the bionic seems to be the best deal for the money on verizon? ( i see them on ebay for under 200) need some direction? should i go for it? what are you guys thought os the phone?

If you can get one for under $200 I would say go for it. Its a good phone, not the best but a solid phone. Plus we are getting ICS ROMs now too

Think the bionics are under $100 on contract. Atleast they were when my cousin got his a week ir so ago.

Well worth that.

thanks for the replies, from what i have been reading the bionic is super fast, but people have had issues with data drops... which apparently has been fixed with a recent update. its screen is slightly pixelated at a close look but it is very bright, even brighter than super amoled screens. other than that people seem to love it. i just wanted to make sure i wasnt buying a phone i would completely regret. and admittedly i am a little nervous coming back to android, after being on windows.... which is super smooth and elegant. but windows still has siome catch up to do yet and that is the biggest reason i am considering leaving... google maps is bar none the best mobile navigation. and the new google music app looks nice! plus i like to customize my phone, a lot. and it would be easy to get bored on ios or wp7 devices. off to ebay to find a sweet deal!!!

btw, i am buying out of contract as i am currently in one till next year...

good to know!

i have been watching them closely on ebay, and every now and again one sells for under 200, daily... so you have ot snag it up at the right time.

I had the OG droid and loved it. But after a 2 years of heavy abuse it finally could take no more. In a pinch I was able to pick up the HTC trophy for 30bucks. So I used it and it worked well. The stock NAV SUCKS AND SUCKS. But I figured I would deal with it. I like the windows interface and I think in a year or two with some tweaks it will be a contender. The deal breaker for me was when I dropped the Trophy and the screen broke. Thats when I said I was going back to a Motorola phone and Android. My OG Droid had been dropped 100's of times and slid across many a concrete floor and all I did was wipe it off and continue on. So when the Trophy broke I still had a upgrade on my account and was able to get a Bionic for free cause of Verizons leap day deal. So to be quite honest I am happy to have the Bionic and a proper working Nav app. Plus not to mention so MANY more features that I missed. So go get the Bionic!!!

i did, and i love it. i picked it up in mint condition off contract on ebay for 199, which is a great deal. plus when i went to verizon to get a sim card, they upgraded me to the 4gb data pkg for free... so it was a win win!

I've had my Bionic a few months and so far it's been a good phone. I was able to get mine for $99 with it was still listed for $199, which was nice. I also got the VZW extended battery and the windshield mount since I use navigation on a daily basis. In my Android career, dating back to the Droid Eris, this is my 2nd favorite phone to date, second only to my HTC Incredible.

Were kind of a Droid family here. My wife has a Thunderbolt and my Son has a DroidX2 and I just got the Bionic. Plus my daughter has a Asus tablet. We enjoy them a lot. But I seem to be more of a Motorola fan. I think they build a strong phone and durable also not a fan of HTC sense. But for the most part we have been really happy with our phones.

agreed, to date, my favorite phone was my droid x... which this phone is very similar too, but more polished and faster. i am a moto fan. also like htc, but not as much as moto. and despise samsung... never again sammy
