This is ridiculous!

Well, I saw the HTC One discussion thread after reading the HTC One vs. Sony Xperia Z story and had to come see what was being said. It's not like it will matter much to me, because neither will be offered on the carrier that I use. Yup you guessed it Big Red. I still have a few months until upgrade but unlike last time I wanted to get and see where the leaders were. Evidently in the UK and on other carriers. Meanwhile the both phones sound really good and I really wanted to get a Sony phone, well the Xperia Z anyway, until I read the HTC One review. My opinion changed a little after that because I am an HTC fan-man. I like Sense and I've owned the Inc and now the Zound, but future HTC phones are looking bleak on Big Red, and so is anything worth owning from Sony. IMO. I am not really considering the others because I at least want an SD, and would prefer removable SD and battery, and it feels like everyone with anything to offer is moving to iStyle. Control, Conform, Con... you can keep it. Well that's my two cents. I hope the official announcement for comes soon for all of you waiting.

One. But if it's out in April i will get the gs4 due to bad stigma on htc.

Here's the thing...

You said the One will better suit your needs. But you would buy the GS4 just based on "bad stigma". This only hurts you. You are the one stuck with the device that was your second choice. You can send a message by buying one phone and not the other, but if you settle for something else (not that the GS4 is really settling) you are going to be the only one possibly regretting it. I don't care which phone you get because really you cant go wrong with these two, but maybe you should consider just waiting it out.

Idk what's spontaneous about buying a phone to rent while waiting for another one to come out. Yes buying the Samsung is my second choice but let's be real aside from hardware it'll probably be a better phone.

People will do this and htc will lose tons of sales because of it. I if "mid April" is now true. Then forget it, htc might add well go bury itself now

I think people are just wondering why even buy another device that you know you don't really want. For instance, if the HTC one comes out next month, why not wait until then rather than buy the Z10 to rent and then get the One. I mean I get what you're doing. You're just finding a way to try out all the devices you want to hold you over even though it's not the device you really want. Hey, I ain't mad at you. Do what you want to do. But I think people just don't understand the need to "rent" a device. I just think you want to test every high end device that comes out and again, I ain't mad at that LOL. Good luck where ever your impulsion takes you LOL.

Im using an Atrix HD. Everyday i want to chuck this phone at the nearest wall possible. So yes trying out BB10 until the One will help the time pass for sure.

Its kind of like buying a nice dress, keeping the tags on, and returning it after you've worn it. I know it happens, but I personally don't hold to high regards people who do it. This whole thread is a temper tantrum that HTC didn't release the ONE on its "promised release day" therefore sending you on a temporary spending spree to try out all the flagships (when, lets face it, they never released the day, only the month, which still has two weeks remaining). HTC has broken no promise to you. And from the way you talk, you would own all three of these phones at some point because that's what you want. You're going to do what you're going to do, and if you don't like hearing other peoples response to it, why even post it on a public forum.

No. Actually its more like buying the competition's offerings after your initial want was tarnished due to a botch. and none other than TIMING. Phil posted an article like yesterday, go read it. Timing is going to absolutely destroy HTC.

Lmao. I guess it is. But not fully. The HTC appealed to me for some reasons, like I said before. I like the hardware, and I liked the fact it was coming out way before the new galaxy. Due to this i wasnt even considering the GS4 as I thought to myself "I rather buy the One, specs are close, better hardware, cleaner UI, all a month BEFORE the GS4". It was a no-brainer. Now though, with the phone coming out what seems like later and later everyday nearing the GS4 launch, that GS4 is starting to starting to become a consideration. Waiting a month + for the GS4 instead of getting the One was not something I would do, in this case HTC wins. However, coming out in mid-april with >month of time until the GS4 hits the US, I will wait for the GS4 reviews to at least compare them, and in this case Samsung will probably win. See the difference? See how HTC put themselves in this hole. As I am strongly positive I'm not the only person with this way of thinking.

Gotcha. You have a phone you hate right now, need to know when the One is coming out so you can see how much longer you have to endure the current device and if it takes too long, you gotta get something else because the current device is unbearable. I feel you and I'm likely to do the same thing. I still think you're going to buy them all anyway at some point LOL.

Lmao. Hate is too light of a word. My friend let me use it since I returned my old phone in the 14 day period. I dont know how he used this phone for months. Im going on 2 weeks with it and omg how I hate it. They keyboard lags, swiftkey still lags, opening browser is terrible. Guess I was spoiled with the Note 2. Strongly considering getting it again, maybe it'll get the gs4 features? Who knows...

So you won't wait a matter of weeks for the ONE to be released, but you'll wait a matter of weeks for reviews of the s4, and then a matter of months for release of the s4, all to spite HTC, because that was the phone you truly wanted, but it wasn't released soon enough. Either way you will be waiting, unless you cash in and buy a phone currently on the market. Your logic although justified by you, is twisted in means of what would be most convenient.

I get what you're saying and I agree to a point. But I understand his frustration with HTC not coming forward with some official info about a launch date here. And by the way, some guy on twitter isn't an official HTC announcement to me. As for the GS4, I think reviews will be popping up before the end of the week (not that they'll be adequate reviews... The Verge...) and I'm pretty confident that Samsung will announce a hard launch date and that schedule will be kept.

I get that some people are in a hurry, and don't begrudge the OP for his rush.

But me personally? One month of life burs into the next. Phones I've had in the past were crappier than phones availabe now, and my quality of life was nevertheless okay. The phone I get next year will be crappy compared to the phone I get a few years later, and my quality of life will nevertheless be okay. I'm not going to look back from my deathbed and fret about which phone I had during which month of my life.

I wonder if providers are going to start releasing phone with less or no heads up because it seems like A LOT of people get a phone for two the weeks before a release and then return it for their intended purchase. If they stop giving dates than people are much less apt to try that rental move
