I just played with one at BB tonight. It's nicly built for sure. Speakers sounded nice. One other annoyance I found was the oddly angled top power button. It didn't hsve a good feel at all. I also disliked the flat/flush rocker on the right side. My S 3 works so nicely with finger placement...meaning left thumb easily changes volume and my middle finger can quickly lock the phone etc. via the right button. No annoying top buttons.

I really hoped that seeing this phone in person would change my mind, but sadly it didn't.

OK. We get it. You have bad taste in tech. You don't need to keep posting on a thread, putting down what's clearly a great device to express your dissatisfaction in being born with such a tiny pen!s. If you prefer Samsung's inferior displays, crap-plastic build, and irrelevant-for-2013 removable memory and battery, then settle for less and be happy with it. Smarter folk will stick with HTC and enjoy having a superior device. Here endeth the lesson.

wow troll much?... besides you can use a micro sd card (and any flash media form) via otg. And also with all the free cloud service out there, it is a non-issue.

battery... I'll give you half credit there... but if you can carry an extra battery... you can carry a battery pack (that will also charge ANY usb devise)... thinking more about it, I might take back that half credit i gave you LOL

I am so used to no micro sd, and non removable battery, that this is a non issue for me. If I need to carry a spare battery with me, I can carry a charger.

Yeah, coming from the Galaxy Nexus (and starting with the G1) I am amazed Android has a phone like this. It's absolutely beautiful and has amazing performance. I'm blown away, it really does take a bit to do that to me Oh and my girl loves hers too, and shes the typical mainstream buyer, so hopefully the reps can do a good job working the phone and get some people to buy it. We shall see once the S4 comes out

WTF is that supposed to mean? I love the phone, but that's ridiculous. After transferring my music I'm down to 16GB's. Considering I forked out an extra Benji for the extra space I'm definitely not happy about losing 10GB's of space.

Yeah, that's normal for every phone. It's why you'll see a "actual available space is less because of the operating system" disclaimer or whatever.

I find it surprising that it would use 10gb for the OS. That's a lot. Considering that the Nexus 4 comes in an 8GB version and only uses a bit more than 5gb I believe. I guess Blink feed and the extra goop takes up a lot.

As for adding all your music. Why don't you just uploaded it to the cloud using Google music? I uploaded the majority of my music to the cloud and just store my newest favorite music on my device for when I am offline.

Regardless of what you decide, the extra 16GB should still give you a lot of storage for apps etc.

Now that I look at my SSD drive, it's got 13% overhead. Must be an SSD thing.

The 8GB has just under 6GB available and the 16GB has just under 13 available. Or more specifically its 5.67GB on the 8 and 12.92 on the 16. That is the difference between stock Android and a manufactuer skin, they take more space. Plus they are making sure there is room for future updates, like the big jump form 2.3 to 4.0 was, if a big jump like that happens in the near future. 10GB should be plenty for a Android build with Sense, as long as HTC and the carriers push the update

If you think thats a lot, look at the surface pro. 128GB and only 83 usable, or 23 left on the 64. A loss of 45GB and 41GB respectively. I know its kinda like comparing Apples to Oranges, but the point is, it could be worse.

i just picked my 32gb One at the AT&T store 2-days ago and i'm completely blown away. i wasn't sure how i would like it immediately since i'm used to running CM on my other devices but so far this stock is making me very happy. first thing i did was install GO Launcher to get the UI that i'm used to and love (and it gets rid of blinkfeed to recover it's lost real estate). i was going to hold out for the Xperia Z but i wasn't going to wait to Q3. i came over from my old trusty GS2 and i really couldn't be happier. initially, i didn't want the silver and was going to wait for stealth black but i love the color scheme now (matches my gigabyte ultrabook). i probably would've preferred the 64gb model but the local stores didn't have them yet but i'm comfortable in storing more in cloud services every month anyway. i'm sure some stable ROMs will be coming soon but right now i wouldn't change anything. also just sold my 18-month old GS2 on craigslist today with all of it's accessories for the same price i paid for the One minus AT&T's $36 upgrade charge. nice to come out even for a far superior device!

oh and i know i'm only 3-days in but so far my battery life has been superb and i've been taxing the hell outta this thing day and night. good job, HTC!

I can't possibly imagine why you'd think 10 gig for an OS is excessive. You should install Windows 8, in it's default configuration it takes up 40 gigs. Considering Android is more secure and has to manage more hardware with less power, it's pretty impressive.

On the other hand you could probably run PuppyLinux on it, reports are it will run in 128MB of space, but well, then you lose the touchscreen, edge, 2g, 3g, LTE, GPS, Wifi, compass, FM, two cameras and probably any kind of sound support. You might have bluetooth so you can still hook up a keyboard.

I'm going to have to agree with the OP, and say this is a brilliant piece of hardware. I hope HTC's designers and engineers have some brilliance left over though, because every year I keep thinking I won't need another phone, and every year they do something outlandishly amazing, and while I've been enjoying the Evo LTE waiting to get my hands on the One, I will also be looking forward to the next greatest thing that they do next year. And of course I'm going to be talking up how absolutely sick this phone is with all the GS3, Note, and Nexus owners there are at the office. Maybe I'll show it to one or two iPhone users too.
