Those using Otterbox cases and wireless charging, what equipment are you using?

Otterbox Defender on a Note 3 and a cheapie $10 charging plate. And I can still charge at full current (640mA) if the bottom of the case is about 1/4" above the plate. (And the receiver is an add-in so the coil isn't on the back cover it's inside the cover.)

Any info on how far you actually have to be to affect charging or what case materials might be an issue? Knowing that it means that I don't have to spend $80 plus tax and shipping on a Lifeproof Frè case.

Lifeproof cases pretty much suck. We went through about 20 of them with the iPhones. The main problem is with the muffled sound and people at the other end of the line can't hear/understand you. I'm not sure if these newer Lifeproof cases are any better or not. I would not purchase another Lifeproof case if it was the last case on earth. Just what I think.

I received this one the other day and it will charge the S6 and S6 edge, however the phone cannot be in a case even my super thin sigen case blocks the ability to charge so beware of ordering this one...

I have an old Qi wireless charger that worked with my old S4 with the battery insert and it charged my phone with any case including the defender and larger cases..it works perfectly with my S6 regardless the case...

I just created a new thread with the video review of the Otterbox Defender case for the GS6 on my YouTube channel. Check it out. At the very end, you can see the OEM wireless charger works just fine with such a rugged case.

Otterbox Commuter and Nokia DT-900 Wireless Qi Charging Plate work great. The plate is actually somewhat vertical as it rests against one of those wooden "charging" stations. Set the phone in front of it and it charges like a dream.
I think cases that are rubber and plastic are fine. Its the ones that have metal on them that won't charge. This was what I figured out when I had my Nokia Lumias...

Wonder why? I seen post with the Commuter working with other wireless chargers.
I was going to order TYLT too.

Just got my S6 and Otterbox Commuter over the weekend...it wirelessly charges fine with my TYLT Vu charger. You need to place the S6 into the charger stand in landscape orientation. It won't charge in portrait orientation.

Defender with Samsung OEM charging pad.

OEM Samsung Charger in a defender case, Have to take care where it is placed on the charging pad.

I can't get that to work and I have the very same setup.

I use a choe upgraded wireless charging pad with an otterbox defender case. Works great and charges very fast. I get about a 50% charge in 30 minutes give or take.

I decided to try again in landscape mode and sure enough it worked! No idea why it didn't work the first time, maybe the cord was loose or something. Anyway, charging in landscape is good enough for me.

Thanks!

When I had the S6 before I exchanged it for the S6 edge, I had it in the Defender case and I have the small square Samsung S charger pad that I got for the S5 and the wireless flip case for the S5. It charged the S6 in the Defender case.

It also charges my S6 edge in either the Verizon shell/holster combo case and the Incipio dualpro case.

Here's the deal with the S6 and the Tylt Vu. Sure seems their "place your device anywhere" claims aren't entirely accurate.

I just got a Vu today and my S6/Otterbox Commuter combo requires I follow these steps.

Very interesting. Does following those instructions allow you to charge in portrait?

Yes and the phone stayed at 100% charge even after fully charged (45 minutes after). Seems LED turns white once device fully charged and I suppose it goes into "maintain" mode. Battery temp never went above 91F. during charge.

BTW, I have another workaround if you prefer to just drop the phone onto the Vu in portrait mode. Get yourself 2-3 round rubber bumpers and stick them to the bottom lip of the Vu. This will raise the S6 enough to catch the charging coils. I did not use the bumpers for the above test. I temporarily placed the bumpers on the lip and tested. I was 10/10 in getting the Vu to detect the S6 by just dropping it into the Vu without doing the "slide down" Tylt wants you to do.

Given the S6/S6 edge being popular devices for 2015, my guess is Tylt will revision the Vu to beef up the coils weak area. We shall see.

In landscape, the Vu picks up the phone easily. No need to play games with it.

I ordered the Samsung QI pad and it DOES NOT work through my Otterbox Defender. I read reviews and people all said it was fine.
The only way it works is if I take off the rubber. Anyone else having this issue with the Samsung QI Pad?

I have an Otterbox Defender on my S6 and have four different pads; round Samsung Avengers charger works great, gray rectangular Samsung charger made for the S4 does not work well because it is dished for a bare S4 with their charging back, a small round Anker works great but seems to run hot, and a black rectangular off-brand one that works great. My son has the standard round Samsung one and he indicates that it is fussy about position of his S6 with Defender. Samsung also makes a small square charger - which Samsung Qi charger do you have?
