Thought this was funny and interesting.

I'm just reading the Steve Jobs biography. Great read. Not only did this book confirm that Jobs was a pure a$$ wipe, but also a liar. Chronically. But that I guess was what allowed him to accomplish what he did. Many liars and cheaters get their way a lot of the time.

One thing I found funny was when Microsoft decided to develop Windows. Steve Jobs loses it on Gates and calls him a thief and that he stole the Mac interface etc. then Gates has the best statement. He says "You can believe that if you like, but I look at it like we both have a rich neighbor named Xerox and I went in to steal his TV but realized when I broke into his house you had already been there and stole everything."

LOL. Right or wrong it was a perfect thing to say.

I love how he was the biggest thief in his time but he would practically nuke any company that used something they put in their phones before or after them.

I should probably read it too.

It's a bizarre book to read. He was all over the place. Obsessive.

Completely self centered one minute then open and friendly the next. A terrible manager to say they least. He threw so many of his friends under the bus for no reason. Class 'A' dick wad IMO. He really held Apple back in a lot of ways. Not unlike where the iPhone is now. He was such a perfectionist that it actually slowed down innovation at times. He would get fixated on a stupid thing and not let it go. Meanwhile blaming anyone he could for problems that were his.

Definitely worth reading.

Yeah well Apple still isn't brimming with innovation at the moment.

The one company he really helped was Pixar. He played all of his cards right and negotiated the parts he needed to. John Lassiter was a creative genius which didn't hurt. Normally Jobs would be involved with the creative process and drag everything into hell, but with Pixar and Toy Story he managed to let the people do their jobs and it paid off. He could then negotiate with Disney by pulling off an amazing IPO for Pixar.

I don't know why but I just don't find anyone else's Minecraft videos as entertaining. I've tried watching other peoples' but it just made me wish I was watching a Roosterteeth video.

What about the Yogscast?

My Minecraft video viewing can be divided up like so:

97% Yogscast
2.5% GameChap
0.5% everyone else

For me it's Roster teeth 97%,videos that poke fun at Onision 3% and everyone else 0%. I'm content.

It was a great read, but not for the reasons that you liked it, I would ignore this thread, but I simply cannot believe you guys, Steve made the company go from near bankcrupcy to one of the most popular companies THAT is incredible.

He did not hold the iPhone back, do you REALISE what phones were like back in 2007? bricks. the iPhone was just incredible(and still is) and so what about perfection? I FREAKING WANT PERFECTION, not the unpolished piece of **** Android 2.xxx, and every "small" thing added up. but it seems like logic and things don't work here.

Chetan.

Calm. Down. Please.

You have to admit, badbrad had some points that were completely true.

Neither is any other company, we have hit a fricking tech wall ok? dont think Samsung's gimmicky features is "innovation"

I have to agree with you there. But other companies like HTC and possible Motorola with the X Phone are innovating a lot. Not in pure specs, but in new, useful features.

I see, maybe some features from Samsung being useful.

On the other hand HTC's blink feed makes me very interested not to mention Zoe

Oh? Who else has tried to use gesture commands for their phone? Maybe someone else, but as far as I know Samsung is the first. And people can call them gimmicks all they want, that doesn't make it true. They work, and plenty of people may use them regularly. Besides at least Samsung is at least trying for some innovation, so is HTC with Blinkfeed. (Nothing revolutionary but again, it's different.)

Innovation and gimmck are two terms that are thrown around way too much these days, and honestly they've lost all meaning and anyone who relies on them to make their argument can't be taken seriously anymore. The latter is basically just used by Samsung haters to describe everything they do because they don't like Samsung doing more differently then they're favorite company. I know I use the word innovation sometimes but I can at least back up my opinions with what I see going on. I hardly need to rely on it and I never call anything new a company does gimmicky.

Tech wall means NOTHING is new or changing, seems like they are though. At least for some companies.

Most features are useless, therefore gimmicky, Siri is a gimmick, S voice is a gimmick but Google now sure as **** isn't.
The only company innovating is google.

And Asus. Sure, a lot of the ideas they come out with aren't perfect in real-world use, but it's nice to see them (and Google) exploring new concepts. Think PadFone series, FonePad, Transformer AiO, Transformer Book.

I'm not denying that, but there were also many other factors. Bill Gates investment for one. But you could also say that Steve was also the reason for so many failures. He was a very interesting person to say the least. Do I respect him? Absolutely not. He was a liar and a two faced self centered ego maniac who treated his friends and family like garbage. And his employees even worse. Do I admire his tenacity and persistent nature? Definitely. He was able to get people to do things that very few people could. Maybe we wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for his extreme nature, but that type of behavior does come at a cost. Many slave drivers built bridges and castles in the past using a physical whip. Steve used his tongue as a whip. I would be willing to bet that for every person that knew him and spoke his praises there were 100 more that hated his guts. For me the legacy you leave can't only be based on your input in technology.

Many people have done great things in business without destroying people in the process.

Google is constantly doing great things. Cars that drive themselves. Google glass are just a couple of the things. Photosphere, and the technology Samsung is doing with the Note 2 are pushing the envelope. Not sure why you would think all of their stuff is gimmicky.
