Thunderbird Android email app can not send emails

I am trying to find a suitable email app and as I use Mozilla on my desktop would like to try the Thunderbird Android app on my Samsung Tab2. The automatic add account works well.. finds my provider(s) outlook and my default telus.net.. BUT I can not send any emails.

Any thoughts? A search implies others have had similar issues but I have not found any answers.

I just posted another problem to them - neither automatic not manual gmail works - the account reports a "less secure app" tried to access the account. I gave the account permission to allow it, but it still won't link to the account.

I guess it's still a work in progress. It's only been out a few weeks from what I can see.

I just had an interesting conversation with the actual author - "Thunderbird for Android" was ripped off an open source app.

Try FairEmail. It looks pretty much the same and it works. (Even if you don't buy the options, give it some stars.)

Thanks for the FairEmail suggestion.. it looks exactly like the Android Thunderbird.. except that it "does" work. I will play with it for a bit and if happy be glad to support the author
