Thunderbolt Battery Complaints + Tips/Tricks

So that is 5 to 6 hours of "continuous" use? Meaning, if you didn't put it down, it would die in 5 to 6 hours?

So... if it sounds like it would probably get through an 8 to 6 workday assuming you are putting it down and not using it the entire day straight.

On my Incredible I received instant sync to my Exchange work email. With the thunderbolt I see the fastest I can pull email is every 5 minutes?? Did something change with Active Sync or did I set this up wrong. I really need instant push email like I had on the incredible during work hrs. Is this possible on the TB???

Figured it out. Deleted the account and re added. Push was an option with the new set up.

Lol, did she lose her charger? tough luck!! haha

Have one outlet by the bed, one is for the charger, other is for the lamp. She likes to plug it in & surf at night so I'm SOL lol.

Guess I could get a 3-way to plug in huh? ha Just still in the frame of thought it hurts the battery if its plugged in longer than charge complete cycle. Probably different case with the newer batteries.

What are those things that they have... you know those things that make 1 outlet have lots of other outlets? I can't think of the name of them.... ;)

What I am even more impressed with is scheduling.
I leave mine on push email from 8AM to 6PM...
Then on nights and weekend every 1/2 hour checking to save the battery.

Very impressed.

You don't get a green light immediately. You have to wait for it to finish charging completely and then you'll see the green light on the led. Charge your phone all the way with the phone on. When you get "full" green on your battery indicator turn the phone off and plug the charger back up. Then you'll get the amber light, wait until the amber light turns green, it may take a little while, be patient. Then you will be "bump' charged! Some people do one more step...after the phone charges while off and you get the green light, turn the phone back on and plug it up again. You'll see the amber light at the top of your phone again but all green on your indicator, let it charge until the amber goes green again. It won't take as long this time. That's it.

And if you do that extra step make sure you unplug it as soon as the amber led turns green or it'll start discharging again. Hope this helps.

"Repeat steps 3-7 process until the light is green immediately upon plugging it back in (approximately 3-4 times). "

I never get to this point.

I'd call myself semi-technical. Much more technical than the average Joe, but not nearly as technical as some.

My thinking here is that forcing your battery/phone to take charge when the OS/phone/battery/circuits say that it is done charging, can't be good. Now, it may seem good in the short term, but I can't imagine it being good in the long term. Even without reading some articles I've seen on XDA about bump charging, I'd guess that it wasn't good.

My battery life does seem to have improved over time. I was getting about 12 hour days and that was it. But yesterday I turned off the 4G with the "network" app. and used wifi instead of 3G at work all day. The result: I was at 17 hours when I went to bed last night and it had 30% charge remaining. I even streamed pandora during my entire hour commute on the way home yesterday. Pretty impressed.

Today I decided I was going to bump charge, however I didn't bother turning the phone off, I just charged to full, unplugged and plugged back in, waited for green led again and then repeated until my battery widget read 100% after being unplugged.

Results: My battery widget is still reading 100% and It's been unplugged for 2.5 hours with moderate use. Usually I'm in the low 90's or 80's by now. I'll update at the end of the day how it did.

how do you set it u for push email...I'm new to Android so I might be stupidly missing something, but I can only see the option to update every 5 minutes in the update schedule menu. I read up above that someone deleted and then set up gmail again, and I did that, but still can't figure out how to set it up to immediately get notified when I get an email.

thanks for any help....I haven't posted anything in here yet, but been browsing these forums the past few days, and getting a ton of tips to help me start understanding this whole new Android world!

Go into your mail account settings/send & receive/ Update Schedule.

You should be able to figure it out from there.

Of course, you do have to have active sync/push enabled email in the first place. It works like an absolute champ.

And if you're itchy, you can always press the sync now button.

I'm not getting my gmail emails immediately sent to my phone...I tested by emailing my gmail account from hotmail, and checking my gmail on my laptop. Email came straight though on my laptop like it should, but I was watching my TB and it took 5 minutes to get there.

I did do what you said...went under mail acct settings->send and recieve->update schedule. But as far as I can see, there's no option to immediately receive emails-the top of the scroll down menu has manual, then 5 minutes, 10minutes, etc...

is there another setting somewhere else that i need to change in order to get my email immediately on my TB?

I'm coming to Android from BB so this is new to me...I feel stupid for not being able to figure this out! ha
