Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

I did mention it, however everyone was sold on the idea of the 24th. If they don't honor the free buy back program, then yeah, I might have to run to BB at lunch and get a refund on my preorder.

They should honor that, and hopefully the $250 price as well...

Check my facts? Its half the damn phone!! Look at a picture of the back, its 2/3 of the entire back!! And no it does not have aluminum under it. Watch the wirefly video where he takes it off. And yes, technically the screen is plastic, great it doesn't scratch but its still plastic. Again, I am not hating on the phone, just the price. It just seems out of line to me, that is my point. I honestly don't care about anything else, I have seen and held the dummy and was not blown away by the craftsman ship, I hope the software blows me away because the price is pushing my away. That's all I am saying.
glass breaks quicker then plastic... why do you think they made plexi glass (glass + plastic). plus the unibody aluminium construction was done first by your precious Jobs... the same type of construction the macbook pros use one piece of aluminium. the plastic back is the battery door not a bunch of plastic there... best check you facts before you come hate'n.

Basically what I was saying was that yes I have held the dummy Bolt, its the real thing just not live and the back half is plastic!! The screen is plastic!! The IPhone is nothing but glass, with a steel band. They are not even comparable on craftsman ship levels. I am not saying the Thunderbolt won't out perform it, but it sure as hell does not meet the same quality as the IPhone. You can't compare plastic to glass and metal, sorry. And the Thunderbolt has very little aluminum on it period, some on the outside of that wraps around to the lower back and the rest is plastic. So it has a 32 gb sd card, big deal, you can buy one for 50 bucks all day. I just don't see how they can justify 300 bucks for this phone!!
plastic is just the battery door cuz you know we can swap batteries ourselves, and from what i've read the screen is not plastic it is a glass made same way as gorilla glass they just don't buy it from corning so they can't call it gorilla glass

I don't know what the hell he is talking about. It's not gorilla glass but it's not plastic. HTC makes their own screen and have their own type of material. It's made like gorilla glass.

Well its not glass and it's not plastic as you say, then what the hell is it then? Because when I held it and tapped the screen it sounded and felt like plastic and those are the only two things a screen could be made out of besides maybe Plexiglas which is really another form of plastic. And your missing the point, I don't care if the phone is made out of cardboard, I cant justify it having a 300 dollar price tag, that is what I am getting at. Some of you may disagree which is fine but that is my take.

Someone emailed HTC last month and asked them what kind of glass they use. They said they use a form of glass that is very similar to gorilla glass. So they screen is glass.

Take it for what it's worth

Just got off the phone with my local Best Buy (take it for what it's worth) ... she said they were told the Thunderbolt would be in store Monday, February 28th. Don't shoot the messenger; after pre-ordering two weeks ago, I'm as anxious as everybody else.

also you will not find a sandisk class 4 32GB microSD card for $50 the cheapest i could find was about $86 if you want a class 2 or some offbrand patriot or somethin thats fine but you get what you pay for

I paid $100 for 32GB for my fascinate a couple of months ago at VZW store.

You forget that I work in IT for Garmin. I just asked one of our vendors and he said he could get me a sandisk class 4 32GB mircroSD for 42 dollars!! Granted that price is not for everyone but that is what it would cost me. If you look around you can find them from 50-70 dollars and really the brand doesn't play that much of a role. It just stores data, its not like it will make that data quality worse, its just a brand. Just like a hard drive, a 100gb hard drive is the same, the brand makes no difference unless you buy complete junk!!.

well i'll need to talk to you next time i want a microSD card lol but i looked real good and the cheapest i could find was $86 this was 2 days ago and from my experiance other brands dont seem to last as long as sandisk or like to become corrupt on occasion not saying this to all brands there are a few other reliable companies but sandisk seems to be the best of the bunch and i've seen reports of sandisk cards often doing performance of higher class than they are rated

This was prob already answered but I don't feel like sifting through 'it's coming on the 24th' posts for 3hrs... So if VZ's price is cheaper and I'm buying at BB do I have 30 days to do the price match?

I don't see why you couldn't do this. From Best Buy's Website:

If you find a lower advertised price on the same available brand and model prior to your purchase or during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. Simply bring in the ad of the local retail competitor or Best Buy, while the lower price is in effect and receive your price match.

However, you might run into an issue if TB is $300 with $50 rebate at VZW, as previously rumored. Not quite sure if that would factor into the equation...
