Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

Does AT&T have 4G speed in their network to be able to enjoy this 4G phone???? I understand they have the HSPA+ Network (they say) but I have never seen anything much faster then 2mb DL speed and that is sitting under one of their towers. How the hell are these phones going to perform?

The Thunderbolt is a Verizon exclusive, so this won't be hitting AT&T.

I hate to sit here and be the debbie downer, but what if this is just some quirky feature phone? I dont work at best buy, but honestly this could be anything. I'm just as anxious as anyone but the dates keep seeming to get more far fetched :/

This is not some quirky feature phone. Check out the videos, the leaked information and stuff thats all over here and other websites. The members here at Android Central as well as the staff have done some awesome work to show that this is not just some "quirky feature phone".

Um, I think what he is saying is that since the model number in the Best Buy screen shot is just a place holder, for all we know it is a place holder for some random feature phone, not the Thunderbolt. I don't think anyone is saying the Thunderbolt is a feature phone....

no no no, i'm not saying the T-Bolt is anything short of amazing. What i meant was that the photo at the beginning of the thread showed a "Verzion phone..." in stock. I'm going to be getting T-Bolt believe me and at that AC is my fave source for anything andriod. thats why i joined :D

look at the unboxing video from today and look at the UPC on the box - identical to the Best Buy inventory UPC (044476816574).

Hmm, didnt even see it earlier. I guess if it matches up its gotta be true then, hopefully the inventory date matches up with the actual selling date

any link for that unboxing video? just looked through google and youtube most of the videos are from three weeks ago.

cool thanks :)

So in the video the "handler" says that we will be able to voice and data over 3G not just 4G hmm very interesting hope that's true cause it would be BA!! Also the phone looks amazing can't wait till the 14th now WOOT!!

the phone looks amazing, but I'm not so keen on two items:

A.) In my opinion, the "kickstand" is a cheesy gimmick that will loosen up, flop open and closed, snag when I'm trying to put it into/pull out of my back pocket, etc.

2.) The SIM card. yuck.

thoughts?

Agreed. I've never had a phone with a kickstand, but that's exactly what I was thinking about it. I was originally hoping it would be spring loaded or something. I wont ever use it, nor will I need a sim card. Although, when every Verizon phone has a sim card it could be a useful feature.

Hmm, judging by BB at the beginning of the model number I'm wondering if it's a blackberry... Any knowledge of these?

well my friend has the evo an im not sure if its the same type of spring loaded or watever. but he uses his alot. an it still the same as day one. i wont be using mine that much. maybe at work to show some guys a video so i wont have to hold it lol but im sure they did something to make it last.

You kids are so lucky VZ finally got one decent phone that I actually like. Soon as I saw HTC Scorpion's spec I knew CDMA now has new HTC flagship and it ain't Evo I mean that's so 2009 hardware. Currently MT4G, DHD (GSM) and TB (CDMA) own it HTC sure means serious Biz LOL Samsung plz learn to follow in its footsteps.

The model number starts "BBY" which could stand for "Best Buy". "BBY" is Best Buy's stock ticker symbol and looking through their web site, there are several cases where they put "BBY" at the end of a model number to indicate that the product is a refurbished unit or special combo deal. So maybe there is a Best Buy-specific model, though the variance could be something as simple as a box with different labeling. Note that the description field also just says "BBY60LD" though. So I'm leaning toward it being simply an internal temporary placeholder to help keep it under wraps until the product is officially announced.

On HTC's official ThunderBolt page at HTC ThunderBolt™ at Verizon there is a Best Buy logo at the bottom. It's been that way since the page was launched around the time of CES, but maybe it hints at a special launch deal with Best Buy? Their page for the Incredible, which is sold at Best Buy, does not have the Best Buy logo on its page.
