Thunderbolt Consumers want ICS

Sure it would be nice to have something new I guess, but what's so wrong with current builds of GB? I am seeing little to no bugs in most all roms... When I run stock it runs almost perfect. If you are unhappy with how its performing, try a factory reset or a new Rom.

Compatibility (like Chrome), desire for a more "stable" official build, battery life, ability to disable apps, Beats integration, better unlock feature (the famous "ring" unlock). I'm actually really excited for the ICS update, it will make it a brand new phone.

Yeah....its nothing huge, but its a LOT of pretty nice little things. Dragging icons on to each other, better app management, more efficient, and hopefully a SLEW of new roms! If we get it and the development community gets theirs bolts back out to give us some new roms, then I could see myself keeping this thing for another 6 months to a year.

Agreed that VZW and HTC should be meeting the expectations of their customers. I understand that tests need to be conducted to ensure a smooth update, but why all the delays for their flagship 4G LTE device? Hopefully the updated to ICS is pushed early next quarter.

I'm sorry, but what delay are you talking about? I haven't seen anything posted on any Android news page that talks of a delay. The TBolt is on the schedule to get an upgrade to ICS between July and August (official word from HTC). Last I checked, it is still June. If the end of August gets here without an update, then we have reason to be mad. Until then, I suggest some patience.

There is no patience in the world of the over-entitled world of phone owners who think that phones are the most important things on earth.

does ics chrome have all my chrome favs etc synced automatically when I use chrome?

I want ICS, but that's because I just like having new things to play with... my current ROM on this phone is a beauty.

I fully expect that with all the TB owners starting to come up on eligibility for new "Share Everything" contracts, VZW has really no financial incentive to test and deploy an ICS update. I expect that after the new plans are live, and grandfathering unlimited data is dead, we all start to see some nice upgrade early offers from VZW for SGS III, Inc 4G's or RAZR Maxx's etc.

We may yet see something leak, but lack of updates and nice early upgrade offer would push a lot of TB users over to those new plans that have been cunningly crafted to squeeze and extra $10-$15 a month out of us.

Basically it makes more sense for them not to update the TB as it approaches 18-24 Mo's in service, than it does to update it.

The engine.......while I agree in theory with what you stated, it would be bad business for HTC. HTC has already said they would get it. I'm not a fan of Samsung at all, purely based on their record of updates. HTC would put off many customers if it doesn't come to the tbolt. I would think twice about the manufacturer the next time I bought a phone if I thought that barely one year later (it only launched 14 months ago) there would be no support for it.

By the time ICS comes out, there will be another update around the corner that gets released and we will have to wait another 8 months? to get it. By then I'll have a new phone.

We wont get the next update. The bolt is one of the oldest phones that will even get ICS. we'll never see jellybean on these.
