I have been having a problem with my Thunderbolt.
I am rooted, but I am not running any custom ROMS or anything like that.

But my issue is that out of the blue my phone has been powering off.
It has only happened twice, but I am conerned that it is a systematic issue.

Any help???

I had my first official random reboot yesterday. I almost wonder if it has something to do with that latest Google Maps update. That was the only thing different I did lately.

This just happened to me at lunch (I am at work). This is hte 2nd time it has done this since I have owned the phone.

Strange!

I've been having the same issue. Happened maybe 4 times already out of the blue. No idea what this is. I hope someone can bring some light to the topic.

IDK if its the Gmaps, I updated and have not had this happen.

Of the people that have had this happen, how many are in a LTE area? And those that are not how many have adjusted the settings to turn 4G off?

Also more info- stock battery, any thing you have downloaded out side the market (ie something you would have unchecked unknown sources box)

This just happened to me. Used my phone 10 minutes ago. Went to unlock it now and it was turned off. Booted up fine like nothing happened... Battery at 63%.

Not rooted and updated Google Maps to 5.3.1 yesterday. Only apps I have downloaded are Pandora, Yelp, YouTube, and Google Maps.

I am in a full bar 4G area and I have not messed with any data connection settings.

I'm not rooted and I've had random reboots. Just today while I was at work actually.

Since the 17th I've had 4 reboots. Doesn't worry me.

I've had it happen once since the 17th and I am rooted. My friend on the other hand has had his a little over a week and he says it happens all the time.

I had my first one yesterday afternoon. Then at somepoint last night the phone just cut off. I almost over slept. Thankfully I had the alarm still set on my trusty (lol) BlackBerry.

From what I remember it's only happened once but that was after flashing a new kernel. For anyone rooted with a custom rom/kernel I would try flashing a new kernel. For others that are not rooted this seems a little weird that so many of you are having these reboots. The first thing I would look at is the applications you have installed and which ones were installed just before you started having these reboots.

ive had the phone for a couple days and have had it happen 6 times, with all stock apps besides tapatalk

Same thing happened to me! good thing I had a back up alarm or I would have overslept!
But I dont think it is the new google maps. I had it power off suddenly before the update.
but if yidfixy who is not rooted had it happen it must not be a rooting problem.
Im lost for an an explanation , I dont know if anyone has any other explanations, other than it being a internal software gliche.
I am currently using titanium back up, setcpu, and lookout. Is anyone else running these programs? maybe they are the source of our woes?

My phone is not rooted and it shut off today also. I missed an important call and the missed call never registered. Also, last night my phone was fully charged and not plugged in. Today it was completely dead when I woke up. Last thing I noticed is that most of the apps that I put into a folder on the home screen have their icons defaulted to the android market icon. Any solutions out there?

Mine re-booted as well. Yesterday was the first time since I got the phone 2 days after Verizon released it. Just an out of the blue re-boot. Not rooted and only stock software. I'm also not worried (yet), I had a Storm 2 that did it all the time - except it took 5-8 min. to reboot!

Mine was doing that also. I made a hat out of aluminum foil as long as I wear it the phone does not reboot

I just read today some people have a hardware version 1, I have never heard of this before. This maybe a hardware issue, if so VZW needs to exchange new ones not Refurbs!
If anyone has had a random shutdown, please check your hardware version and post?
go to Menu>Settings>About phone>hardware Info

I have also had random reboots. Im also rooted, with no custom roms and just basic apps. Its happened about 3 times since I bought the phone on release day.

I have hardware 0002

Here's some info on my set up

- Hardware V2
- 3G Area (When the reboot occurred)
- Use LTE On/Off (Not sure if LTE was on or off at the time of reboot, however.)
- Accepting Non-Market Apps
- Running Launcher Pro
- Not Rooted
