Thunderbolt vs Charge

I just exchanged my thunderbolt for the charge and am very pleased!

The charge has a much better battery - the tb could hardly make it through 4 hours. The screen is amazing on the charge. I do notice some lag between screens with touch wiz, but nothing big and nothing compared to the lag I had on the tb using data. I also like the feel of the charge in my hand and that it is light weight compared to the tb.

I have always loved htc phones, but something happened with the tb and it is just not the quality I expect from htc.

I got the TB. But, I like the feel, solid and quality. There is a nice heft to the phone. The screen looks really good actually, I constantly compare this to my Fascinate. I like the speaker volume, it is just loud enough for me. I love having the front camera, didn't have this on the Fascinate and that should have been included(IMHO). I have trouble with the physical buttons on the charge, just feels like it's wearing Bozo clown shoes. I really appreciate the capacitive buttons, I guess i got used to that using the Fascinate. The camera is really good, think that it is just as good as the Samsung. The speed of the phone is amazing. Honestly, I haven't rooted yet and I'm debating at this point. I really don't have the need right now, aside from the silly loaded bloatware and the multiple apps that get loaded when the phone boots up, there are a ton of apps running. I go a shut them down and gain 290+ MB of ram. I'm just a tad concerned about that on the Charge. The voice calls are really good, no complaints and when I'm talking to my wife and get bored, i just look for apps(Voice+Data). Sense just works, sometimes it lags and when there are many txt messages, that will slow down. When I loaded all my apps on the Fascinate, the phone would turn into a pig! But I have more on this TB and it just keeps going! I'm pleasantly surprised. I've read about the choppiness of the video when recording and I've seen a little, slightly worse than the Fascinate. Although, it will stall when playing the video back?! I'm not sure what's up with that. My battery will last between 6-14 hours depending on use. I of course did a calibration for the first few days and also bumped it. Maybe many people didn't do that and they are suffering because of it. Right now i'm not worried about battery, as i purchased 2 spares. I just swap them out and keep going. I have had issues when watching a high bitrate video file though. I downloaded it then played it and it was choppy, I tried it in the Fascinate, no choppiness, swapped cards and it still sucked, when the Fascinate just blew right through the video. I watch alot of movies so this bothered me. I downloaded Rockplayer from the market and it's fine now. As I've said, i'm debating whether to root or not, as the main reason for me would be for the themes. But, Sense has a built in manager(Scene/Skin personalization). Why isn't that built into Android to begin with?! It was in Windows Mobile?!! Oh well, regardless of that point I'm enjoying this phone. The Charge does have the SAmoled+ Screen though and that is a small seed of dissent for me. The Internet browsing is fast though, I mean FAST! I haven't even tried the 4G yet. Well, that's my take on the TB right now, I have a week left on my 14 days and I'm still trying it out.

HTC, has always under powered their phones. What I mean by that is they almost always use a smaller battery in them, than comparable phones on other carriers. The reason you have a better battery life on the Charge is because it has a larger battery.

Same story from me as I've seen from others. I had the Thunderbolt for about 3 weeks and I just couldn't deal with the poor battery life and HORRIBLE slowness. I spoke with the Verizon sales manager and explained my position and he allowed me to exchange the phone even though I was outside of my 14-day window. Loving the Droid Charge so far!

I'm on my 6th day with the Charge and am not liking it. It has its plus points like HDMI out, the display just pops out at you, etc. But I don't like that its really wide(I have smaller hands and its hard for me to hold it and operate it w/one hand), has a noticeable lag and to me the call quality is pretty bad, even on speaker phone...very robotish.

I may give the TB a try. The battery is definitely an issue w/the TB but neither the Charge nor the TB will last you the whole day so either way you have to recharge it at some point. Since I have a desk job, I can keep the phone plugged in all day if need be so its not as much of an issue.

I had the TB first and now have the Charge and am very happy with the Charge. There is a HUGE difference in the battery life between the two - the tb has no battery and you will live glued to your charger all day.

The call quality on the charge seems the same as the TB which I think both are good. I do notice some lag switching between home screens on the Charge, but there is also lag with the TB. The TB may be a little less wide than the Charge, but it is HEAVY and feels like you are carrying a brick.

Both phones have their positives and negatives and both are good phones. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I hear ya. I don't know whether I should wait for the Bionic. You would think there would be several phones to choose from. Did you try any extended batteries on the TB?

Better but still issues and shortcomings

Battery twice as along and can see the phone in sunlight.

Don't like the on off on right side always hitting it when holding or adjusting volume on left.

CAN'T MAKE A CALL AND USE DATA AT THE SAME TIME!

Dropping 3 G data several times a day and have to restart to resume. VZ and I messed with settings too and after last update that was to fix this. LTE onoff app wont help that is built in to phone and it does not fix the issue.

Email client on 'auto push" uses an algorithm to PULL email. I min after most recent then if no new email it pings the server 5 min later and if no email it pings server 15 then 30 or something like that. Looking for email client like the bolt had so I can set it at 1 min.

Interface is terrible loaded lancherpro and love it better than sence.

NO LED indicator light.

The width difference of the TB and charge is 0.22mm. I find it hard to believe anyone can "feel" that. The Charge is 0.1mm thinner and the TB is 0.36mm shorter. In my hands on with both the Charge did "feel" longer only because of the pointed bottom. The weight of the devices is the real difference, the TB does feel solid, but it is super heavy and the Charge is lighter and feels nice in the hand.

I'm waiting till the coupon at Costco gets close to expiring so I have a longer 90 days to wait for the Bionic.

I came from the Thunderbolt and the reasons I chose the charge are better battery life, lighter, and no issues with camcorder volume. I do miss sense and the kickstand By I'll get used to touch wiz and I did really use the kickstand much. But I do notice the camera is a lot slower to tak the picture.

i really like the charge so far. had it 6 days now. i am finding that it lags much more than the tb and the ui restarts more. it will lag then once i finally go back to the home screen it has to load the icons and widgets.

is the extra battery life and beautiful display worth the lag?

Thats what I would like to know. To me its a real annoyance but then so would a crappy battery life.

Yeah some people are telling me the charge is the right choice. Some to tb. They each make good points. Would like some help from here

Had the TB....took it back because...at the time, connections were terrible, battery was terrible, and the phone was as heavy as a brick. I had never gone to Sprint, so I went there and got the Samsung Nexus S 4g. Loved that phone...pure android...very fast, screen and battery were great. BUT.....I couldn't hold a signal...so....I went back to Verizon (ate crow) and got the Charge. IMHO...the charge is far superior to the TB. Screen, battery, weight, and sound quality. Now I understand the TB may be getting gingerbread. That's great, and I'm sure the phone will be better....but the screen vs the charge just eats too much power...and it still feels like a brick in my pocket. Your mileage my vary...

Weird. I don't get any kind of a lag like that with my Charge and I'm not even rooted.

I checked to built in task manager an it using 278 out of the 328 available. Always.

I really loved the sense UI. I thought it was the best but the touch wiz is pretty cool. I don't talk on the phone much so I can't tell if the voice quality is better but the screen is amazing. And I can get through a whole day where I couldn't on to tb. Hopefully the lag works itself out

Root and run a voodoo rom. This will make the charge as fast if not faster than the t bolt

I don't like messing with ROM's an stuff. I'm thinking about switching back
