Sorry to post if this is a known tip, but I just discovered this. If you slide your phone open with the hardware keyboard and you're presented with the password prompt, if you have a numeric PIN code set, apparently it is not necessary to double-tap the FN key to enter the numbers, you can just type the corresponding letters.
So if your pin code is 12345 (like my luggage) you can just tap "qwert" and it will still unlock the phone even though the FN LED is not lit. Kind of cool and a time saver.
It's probably in the manual somewhere, but who has time for those.
