I finally figured out how to reduce blurry photos. Just change the camera mode to manual, change shutter speed between 1/3200 to at least 1/50 (depending on the lighting), and then adjust the ISO accordingly. Focus speed is just as good as the S7's dual pixel! Now I can take pictures of kids and pets much better! However, low light shots are still not that good.

Low light photos will be fine as long as you use flash with the correct ISO and shutter speed. You can get nice blur free photos at night as well as daylight within reasonable expectations(ex.freezing super fast speeds like cars etc. which isn't possible without a more powerful flash) Also if you preset your focus range, taking pictures are instantaneous.

I am having a hard time getting clear photos on any movement in the frame. I feel like the performance is below that of the V10, and is far, far below that of my s7e. I am probably going to ditch this phone shortly.

Give it a chance.
There's so many picture settings it can be a little confusing at first. But if you master them you'll be happy.
Make sure you have tracking focus turned on.
Which is found in the camera settings.

Sadly ill be joining you. Hoping the G6 is an improvement or ill be back on my G4. I'm not sure if it was the software, the hardware, the sensors...but pics i used to snap with ease on the G4 are a nightmare on the V20. i find it odd how easy and user friendly the g4 camera was, and I continue to hear "give it a chance, you just need to learn it properly" etc...and it juat leads me to think it just cant handle certain environments i shoot heavily in. The rest is great, but the camera really was a step backward.

I'm sorry you are having the issues. I actually enjoy this camera over my old G4 and most of my pics are in auto.

Not a big deal. I simply think whatever sensor or software they switched to, it simply can't handle whatever concert lighting does to photos, as the numerous examples of my V20/G4 shots illustrated...some being so bad that others (and myself) thought the camera had to be broken. With perfect environments my V20 is more than capable. Jusy not in an environment where my G4 excelled. Im certainly bummed over wasting my money and losing the audio capabilities on the V20, but if it cant perform an important function to me personally, it simply means its not the right phone for me, not debating or trying to prove its not right for you or others.

Yeah I understand.

If i step back to the g4 for camera function, i lose the quad dac, which is amazing. Holding out hope the g6 will perfect both, or if not ill go back to the g4 and see what the V30 has to offer down the road. For me personally, photos are most important.

I really dislike how this conversation constantly turns everytime someone posts about a camera issue, as if someone posting a different, clear photo magically negates any problem someone is having. i have shot 3-4 concerts with every imaginable mode and setting on the v20 and I would say about 90% of them look as the image above. I have also shot the same venue with my G4 and the same or close settings and the pictures came out absolutely brilliant. No one is doubting that the v20 does not have the capability to take good pictures but the fact of the matter is whatever sensor they used to use was either replaced or simply removed in the v20 and some of the most challenging scenarios that the G4 was able to handle with ease is now Impossible on the v20.

No one is trying to negate your results but your results may differ for a multitude of reasons. As an individual that's has the same phone as you I am not experiencing the same results as you under any circumstances. Obviously something is wrong, however its hard to isolate what the issue is. Perhaps there is something wrong with your phone,

I can see how the v20 is not working for your shots, and I agree that it's the camera and not you. I also have some types of shots/features that aren't as good as the g4 (over pixellation/compression, distance focusing.)

But there are also some fine features that other people are excited about. (I love the wide angle, sound, and manual focus.)

Unless other people are taking concert photos (your main use of the camera), they likely won't experience what you are experiencing... so they are just pointing out that ghery are getting good low light photos, the closest analogy they have to what you're doing.

You've posted your issue several times, and it seems like no one has a solution. The next time I'm at a concert with similar lighting (mid March) I'll try some photo options and see if I can come up with something for you.

Someone explained in decent detail in another post, the V20 changed/upgraded the sensor from the G4, and i guess it just functions differently and isnt able to handle that certain environment as well as the last sensor did. Total bummer

It's the same camera that's in the oneplus 3 (with an added wide angle lens of course.) The op3 is a $400 phone, so it's definitely a little annoying the v20 uses the same camera. Plenty of people will say "but the manual mode is awesome!, but I think most phones have a manual mode these days. The manual mode on my s7 edge is nearly identical to the v20's, but I never need to use it on that phone.

It's hard to say, my wife has a G4 and what I would say I've noticed is that I never really appreciated just how good that camera was at the time.

My best low light pictures like the ones that you are describing seem to come in auto mode with hdr off. In these scenarios it seems pretty similar to my wife's G4. In terms of point and Shoot LG seems to not have the software chops of the other big players.

The thing that baffles me is why they would sort of backtrack with the hardware/sensor/software. The g4 did all the things the v20 could do, so they took the v20 and basically lost that feature. Its just frustrating is all. Was it for the "dual camera" that seems to be their new baby, that made the software incapable? Or is the dual camera a not fully realized idea, like the steady shot with video, same thing...people are getting earthquake looking shots due to focusing issues, and besides trying the "follow these 22 steps to get it to somewhat work" solution, it seems an incomplete project.
