tired of T-Mobiles indoor coverage.

I'm not going anywhere at the moment. I'm just very disappointed with the quality of this network. I've been to several markets in NC and none of them have solid LTE coverage.

It will be spotty when it comes to LTE... HSPA is the backup... And then in between is edge. If you're used to a carrier like Verizon you simply aren't going to enjoy T-Mobile. There is a reason they aren't the #1 carrier and coverage is a huge factor in that. They are working on it but.. It won't be an overnight thing.

I'd suggest switching.

Ah okay. I was going to say if you have a T-Mobile branded phone and wifi at home they have a feature called wifi calling which allows calls, text, and MMS to go over wifi. Helps for situations like this.

The only places I have a problem with indoor coverage are supermarkets, and Walmarts, that's it, no where else.

Dollar general stores and Texas Roadhouse are coverage holes around here. It's almost like the dollar General has a cell killer installed.

after changing phone from s3 to s5 couple weeks ago, I have much better signal in areas where I had one bar max now its 3~4, phone matters as well.

Actually it is the phone. Specifically its the N5 radios. I went through the same thing. Switched to a moto x and it really improved.

As far as I know and an aware, moto x and moto devices are known for great reception and radios.

The cel-fi unit is $575! That's crazy! Who in their right mind would buy such a thing?

If you're in a bad area they usually will send you one for free.

Yep, mentioned that in a followup post. Also, Cel-Fi really only works while in-call--so if you're only using it for mobile data, it won't kick in.

Really? A T-Mobile rep told me it should improve my 4G signal and I should see better data speeds. So it's basically used if you have dropped calls? My calls don't drop, I just need faster data speeds for web in my house. :/
Ah, darn...

It's an issue with semantics. The Cel-Fi will boost HSPA+, which is considered to be 4G, but isn't as fast as LTE. From the Cel-Fi website: "Just a little bit of 3G or 4G signal strength and our revolutionary new Cel-Fi will bring you blazing fast downloads, smooth video and surfing, and improved voice coverage. For T-Mobile: 4G HSPA+ and 3G Dual Band 2 and 4 (AWS & 1.9GHz). For AT&T: 4G HSPA+ and 3G on Dual Band 2 and 5."
