The N7 is a great tablet. The reviews of it haven't been off. There are defective units out there, sure, and that's unfortunate. But it happens every time new technology launches. That's all there is to it. The sad part is that the extreme minority that is having problems is VERY vocal (judging by this forum), and they are helping harm the reputation of what is unquestionably the best low-priced tablet ever built (and simply one of the best tablets out there, period)..not to mention the image of the Android operating system in general. It's really a shame.
I hope people understand that these problems are likely temporary, as Google will probably fix the issues they are encountering. Further, I'd to see folks get through their heads that dealing with minor defects is the price we almost always pay for choosing to become "early adopters" of new technology. Period. That said, the stain on the Android image that they are helping to create will last a long time, and will be something we will have to deal with well after all the minor issues with the Nexus 7 have been addressed. We've waited a long time for a tablet of this quality to come out, and it is so unfortunate that what people will remember if all this freaking out continues is the few problems it had at launch..and not all the amazing things it has brought to the table.
Don't forget, haters, that with every comment you feed the iTrolls what they've been waiting and hoping for. You might consider just being patient, taking a deep breath, and then just hanging tight until Google makes things right for you. I think they will.
And my family has had four Nexus 7s in hand. All as perfect as you could hope for. My experience is the norm..those with defects, as much as I sympathize with you, represent the outliers.
