To Do the Amazon 0.01 Deal or Not?

I'm still in my 14 day grace period (by 2 days) w/o having to pay the Termination Fee. So I'm thinking of porting my number to a dummy phone (an old AT&T Go-Phone), then cancelling my account then Getting this 0.01 deal from Amazon & re-port my number back onto this phone.

The only downside to this, the plan they offered me in the Verizon store is the Unlimited Talk/Text for $64.99...yet the plan on Amazon's site is only offering that plan for $89.99. So over the course of 2 years on that plan I'd be paying $600 more even though I'm getting my $300 back.

What should I do?

I wouldn't go through all that hassle.

Now, please tell me more about that plan you have. What does it include for $65?

I just did it yesterday. If you are porting your number to a dummy phone, the plan should transfer. For what it's worth, Amazon Wireless cannot touch your plan. I signed up for the cheapest plan to get the penny deal and switched it when I got the phone.

Heck of a deal.......Now I may just get the Rezound.......

I was confused about this when she told me about it as Im pretty familiar with their online pricing, mustve been an in store pricing deal. I wonder if I could call into to Vz after I switched & see if they could put me back on that plan...

I've debated this myself, especially if amazon can do that "double data plan" setting (or get Verizon to add it after the fact)... and if I decide to get the Nexus, I wonder if I could return the phone to Verizon and swap it for the Nexus.

I'm trying to do this deal, but for some reason I cant get it to work, i'm trying to turn my wife's individual count into a family plan and add myself as a new line...doesn't seem that Amazon is able to do that tho, anyone else tried to do this?

They do have the double dara option on Amazon. I just did it when I ordered the Rezound.

If you do what you are trying to do you will get nailed with the $250 fee, either when you change to a less expensive plan or when you change the number. While these things are not expressly forbidden there are a lot of iffs here and in the end I suspect you will get nailed and it is a lot of crap to go through. Just use the regular upgrade pricing and be done with it. It's not one cent but it is cheaper than in the stores.

The deal still makes sense. It will be cheaper to get the phone for s penny and risk getting charged the penalty than to pay the $300 up front.

Or you could save yourself the trouble and just pay the upgrade price which is right around $250 anyway and save yourself all the hassle.
