Today battery is draining quicker..

Frankly, these screenshots don't tell anything. It just shows that yesterday you used over 8 hrs SOT and another 24 hrs of no SOT - maybe the phone was idle, or whatever. Actually looking at your first screenshot, you turned the phone off for quite a few hours before turning it back on - so that accounts for a lot of how you had 1 day and 8 hours since last charging. Your second screenprint shows that since you last unplugged your phone from the charger, it's been almost 10 hrs and you've had the screen on for 7+ of those hours. The data is not comparable at all. You used all that SOT in the last 10 hrs. Without knowing how you used your phone the day before and how the SOT was dispersed, I'm afraid you can't jump to any conclusion here.

She must be reading books or doing something else not intensive at all if she's getting that much screen time.

You dont always get the same battery day to day. You do realize how many moving parts (figuratively) a phone has, right? It's not a big deal.

I don't usually let my phone get too low. But the previous charge I decided to let it get lower to see how the battery was doing. Screenshot below. Then I charged my phone last night. And now it's already gone down over 20% in two and a half hours with less than 2 hours of screen time. Such a difference from yesterday and the day before. I've been doing the usual and haven't added anything new. I run device management and I close things out the same as usual. I just restarted my phone even though it was turned on a few hours ago. I am hoping this is just a fluke.View attachment 291530

If you have the screen on for 7 hours straight, your battery is going to die no matter how you slice it.

I am a moderate user. Meaning no games. I have a Nintendo Switch for games. I text more than anything else, browse the web and browse Android Central app among other forums. Some pics here and there music to and from work... and those two graphs are what I'm pulling. The phone literally had accurately guessed my usage pattern.

What I noticed is this phone BARELY sips any juice during standby, which is why you can have 8ish hours Screen over a +24 hour period, as well as have 8 hours screen on time with just 30% left.

There's nothing wrong with the phone, you are just using it way more compared to the standby. I'm sure during the weekend I will see similar stats like yours since I wont have any work to do.

If you had only 3 hours of screen at 30% then that would be a problem.

You have great battery life.

I enclosed my last two battery results. Standby battery drain (at least for me) is virtually non-existent.

I'm at 3 hours SOT with 45% battery left. No video streaming, no music, no games. Just texting, browsing, Twitter and Instagram. Little bit Words With Friends.

I have been home all day and on wifi. Guess I will see what tomorrow brings lol

There's your answer. Hehe.

If you don't give your phone a chance to rest it's not going to have long standby time.

In the event of being at home, standby time is worthless; however, if you are out and about it's more important.

When you are out and about you are using your phone less.

In both instances you are pushing more than 8 hours of screen, so my final verdict...

Your battery is perfect. 😊

Something happened today, I also lost a sudden chunk of SOT also. Was it the president alert perhaps?

I was also home all day and on wifi.

My battery stinks too. It has a 4000mah battery in it. After coming from the note 8. Battery life is almost as bad. The standby drain is brutal. I close out my apps and run device maintenance daily. Put apps to sleep and after 2 hours I'm down 78 percent. Phone is brand new and if the only suggestion is to master reset then idk. I take the bus everyday to work and it's roughly an hour and a half. I stream do some you tubing text use. Spotify and some radio.com and it doesn't last me nearly a full day. Also Google maps to get around Manhattan. Just drains an absurd amount. Can't figure it out. Cleared cache partition 3 times and restart my phone frequently. No difference.

Cell signal for me is consistently strong so I don't know why you assume its that? This phone is meant for heavy usage and should last at least 15-20 hours with heavy usage roughly. I know you dont work for samsung but my battery life is brutal. I would upload photos but the android central app needs a major overhaul considering you cant upload any photos via forums on the app. At least as far as I've tried. But thats a whole other thing. Note 9 i've had a month and do use it for nearly everything but so far disappointed with battery life as I cannot even get through a full day.

There is far too many variables. Cell signal, a possible stuck app that's open, and pinging the net, brightness level, etc.

Was there an update to the N9 recently? Maybe there was a new kernel (If there was a kernel change, the OS always takes the battery down while figuring things out)?

I agree its hard to tell whats causing battery drain. There was a recent update shortly after the device was released but not quite sure if thats causing it. Believe me i've nearly tried everything and cant figure out why its happening.

coming from an essential PH-1which had amazing battery life I'd say battery life on the note 9 is quite disappointing and not what I was led me to believe in the reviews. I'm lucky to get 3 hours SOT using the same set up as the essential which gave me 4-5 hours of SOT.

Might be because Samsung didn't launch this thing with Pie. funny how a small startup company like essential can give us Google's latest and greatest but Samsung can't.

You had like 2 hours screen on time with 2 hours 46 minutes off the charger. You were still on pace for 9-10 hours SOT. How is that bad? If you are using your phone 80% of the day, there's no way it's going over 24 hours.
Maybe I'm missing something here.

Exactly my thoughts. Did a quick calculation in my head and thought "where is the issue here?".

You need to realize everyone's needs are different and will get different battery life.
While the Note9 may get less battery life in your usage, you have to also remember that the essential phone has an LCD display, lacks a 3.5mm jack, wireless charging, and water resistance.
Why couldn't essential phone get those options right?
Overall, I think most people will get great battery life and the Note9 probably won't reign Supreme in every facet. The startups probably have a lot easier time with resources using stock Android instead of having a group of developers develop a UI for them.

My battery life had been great, was getting roughly 6 hrs SOT for about a week, now this was today. Same usage as the past week. My Android system, would never go above 3%, not its equal to my SOT. Bummed I got kissed by the Android system bug
