You don't need root to change that! Just the Android sdk on your computer the right drivers installed and the bootanimation.zip! Then you can push it to your phone and have the boot animation you want!
Riiiiiggggghhhhhhttttttt. Believe it when I see it. Note this post, if he's right it will be the first time actual information came from a forum member.

Your GPS still works? Everything works?
I used to hate how GPS and other functions on the BB would stop working once rooted.
Everything works perfect for me too.... im gonna get me some SR 3.0 tonight too ;-)

There is no froyo; there is no incredible. This whole forum is just a figment of your imagination. Move along... nothing to see here
The BB didn't have to be 'rooted'. And no hybrid O/S's on the BB broke any hardware function they are controlled by the Java under layer not the O/S layer. Hence you can't brick a BB by putting on a bad hybrid install and would result in the phone giving you an error "501" instead of a black screen......
And yes everything has been working on the SR ROM's pretty much since the 2.x radio leaks. It's the radio that controls those functions. The ROM just needs to know how to talk with it. It's more complicated than that but basically that's it.
So yes everything works, and have been since SR 2.2.

The Incredible will never get an offical upgrade to Gingerbread since it's EOL date is 3/31/2011. But, with Froyo, I will have everything I need in a smartphone. My next major purchase will be a tablet - Android or WebOS or Windows 7 or Chrome.
They gave the Eris 2.1, so there's still hope for 3.0. That's a conversation for another time, but it's not completely out of the question.
OK this is weird; some kid on a flying skateboard just dropped a copy of the Washington Post on my stoop.

Sources inside Verizon’s testing labs suggest that this, the 512th Release Candidate for “Froyo,” is almost ready and that the antiquated OTA servers for Verizon’s 3G network will be re-activated soon. Anxious users stand by their phones diligently awaiting the notice that their systems were no longer “currently up to date” and that their devices were now “Update Available.”
“I never thought I’d see the day,” said Android Central poster tony bag o doughnuts, “I’m just so emotional right now. My 156th replacement DInc just came in the mail today!”
Qazme, an Android Central member ranked as an “Android Deity” because of his 234,549,034,290 posts on the site stated: “I rooted back in early 2010, I’ve been running Honeycomb on my DInc for a month now, bug free, with radio 5.2.0.12.9.6.2. I don’t know why people are waiting for the Froyo OTA.”
Android Central Moderator mclarryjr has not slept in 18 months merging and re-merging various threads in the forums relating to the long rumored release date for the HTC Incredible. When asked how he remained so diligent for so long he simply stated; “I drink a lot of coffee, really, a lot of coffee. It hasn’t really affected me any, …LOOKOUT…, negative ways. I take breaks for the hockey, but… HEREITCOMESAGAIN… other than that, I just merge and close, merge and close.”
A spokesman for Verizon stated, “we hope to have Froyo out for the Incredible soon, however there is no release date at this time.” There is a link on the Verizon website for all update related news for the HTC Incredible, however when we checked the link was not active.
An anxious user base awaits.
