if you're gonna root, do it now before the OTA. it's supposedly closing whatever backdoor unrevoked used, so they'll have to re-find root with the OTA froyo. you have about a week to make up your mind before the new OS starts rolling out, pending it passes

Yeah I saw that on their twitter a few days ago. I think they are actually suggesting people use the s-off. Not sure and don't quote me. It wouldn't surprise me if they close the door on us though!

I don't guess I'm getting what you're saying, and just want to be very clear. If we do root, can we unroot and go OTA when the official comes out? I know... I know this has been answered before, just want to be clear.

yomonk1, even if rooted you can get the OTA, but it will close the root unless you have s-off through unrevoked forever. That's my understanding, anyway.

Patience for the first timers. yomonk1, I was a first timer last year when I installed a leaked OS on my Storm1. I was nervous, full of questions, and crossing my fingers through the whole process that took maybe thirty minutes. When complete, I anxiously awaited the next leaked OS so I could install it also. You will be nervous the first time. When done, all will be paradise.

I predict the next release date rumor will start on August 23rd at 3:00 PM EST.

The new OS will close whatever loop hole is being used to get root currently, so once you load the ota you'll have to wait for root to be found again, if you root before there's a possibility you'll be able to keep root even after the ota, due to s-off.
