I am not trying to be sarcastic here, but I really don't understand why the delay? I read that the HTC Desire in the UK is getting FroYo. I thought I understood that perhaps it was because of the sense UI, but doesn't the Desire use sense UI as well? Is Verizon's testing that much more hardcore than that of ANY other carrier? I only want to understand!

Okay, so reading all these different dates and stuff i decided to call verizon this morning thinkin maybe i can find something out on this froyo crap. When a service rep got on i started to explain to her my Dinc acts up, reboots, and was wondering if i can do an exchange, or an early upgrade to a D2. My Dinc is perfectly fine. I have had not 1 problem with it since i got it in may. so im lying here and i said for my last problem with the phone, "i heard this phone is done with upgrades, its not getting the new froyo"..... and there was a pause. I said "right? its not getting the froyo? , she kinda said sofly, "na, i that update is goin out at all, it didnt work out"..... so she said with my Dinc i can get a replacement, she was sending me over to the tech department, when she transfered me i hung up.
Now the whole reason of this call was to find out whats the deal with this froyo. I played it off as if i was concerened about other issues than the froyo, because i didnt wanna hear her say what she prolly tells everyone else. I thought i could have better luck. Apparently i didnt.
Now this lady acted like the froyo isnt coming out for the Dinc. This is all true what i wrote. Im not here to put out a rumor, not at all. I called and thats the response. Now i know the service reps are just workers, they clock in and out for work, whatever. I hope shes wrong, this Dinc (without froyo) is by far the best smartphone still to date. Ive owned many phones and this is the best one. And im not rooted.
I would love froyo, but without it, it does everything these other smartphones too.
So now all im wondering is what happened to that little HTC update for the 720p video, better wifi, etc.????

They just didn't say what year that particular August 18th will be in... This is the oldest trick in the product management book... Tell them they will have it by Christmas, just don't say which one! August 18th 2011 seems reasonable (but don't hold me to that).

So, you called VZW, wasted their time, lied to them, and then posted here. Thanks a lot but next time why don't you just leave it alone. If your phone is not having problems, have a little patience!

If you need the fixes for your phone to work, I understand calling. HOWEVER, just because you are impatient for ENHANCEMENTS doesn't mean you should start lying and wasting peoples time for a little information.

The Incredible will get 2.2... its just gonna be a little while for them to iron out the issues getting it to work flawless with Sense just like 2.1 does. It will come. Just wait.. or root, but I choose to wait. It's just gonna be that much more exciting when I turn on my phone one day and see "system update available"

Me personally, because I have had bad experiences with installing un-approved operating systems. Plus one your do it root, you will never receive pushed updates (so I'm told) Not that I expect to even own this phone when 2.3 rolls around but this phone is great how it is. If and when Froyo comes then I will be even happier but um not going to stress over it.

I don't want to VOID my warranty by rooting...if something happens to my phone and I root I'm screwed...that is why I choose not to root.
