I'm passing on the x because of the locked boot loader. So nice of motorola to screw up a great device.
do you have proof of it being locked? if so please link to it. been trying to figure this out...
Straight from Motorola themselves.....
?We understand there is a community of developers interested in going beyond Android application development and experimenting with Android system development and re-flashing phones. For these developers, we highly recommend obtaining either a Google ADP1 developer phone or a Nexus One, both of which are intended for these purposes. At this time, Motorola Android-based handsets are intended for use by consumers and Android application developers, and we have currently chosen not to go into the business of providing fully unlocked developer phones.
Securing the software on our handsets, thereby preventing a non-Motorola ROM image from being loaded, has been our common practice for many years. This practice is driven by a number of different business factors. When we do deviate from our normal practice, such as we did with the DROID, there is a specific business reason for doing so. We understand this can result in some confusion, and apologize for any frustration.? Lori FraleighMotodev
That is not specifically pertaining to the X. IIRC that statement was made a few months ago. This phone is a beast and will be made even better if a custom rom can be flashed. The more I think about it the more I am deciding not to get it if there is no hope of cracking...
Oh, im not trying to say there will be no hope of cracking it. I mean im sure there will be plenty of people working to get root, but it just may not be a quick process since its their intent to lock it down. Other phones got root quickly because the manufacturer was not purposely restricting it. It just may be months before it actually happens for this one, but then again it only takes one person to solve it.
But I mean that comment wasn't directly related to the X but rather to "all" future phones. Hopefully they changed their mind as the milestone is still not cracked. Hopefully we at least see root. If not, hello HTC!

I think you should compare the Galaxy S phones more to the Inc than the X. They're targeted at different audiences, and they all share similar specs. The Incredible is more comparable to the Galaxy S than any other Android perhaps. First decide if you like X over Incredible, if not then consider the Galaxy. If you prefer X over Incredible though, I doubt you'll end up buying a Galaxy S.
This is all from the standpoint of none of us seeing a review yet (6PM today !!! hopefully)
And this differs from most other Android based phones how?
I'm not too worried, and I don't see how this could be a major nor effective deterrent from using what looks to be a great phone.
x for sure, just consider that moto phones get more updates than samsungs
and, at least droid x look less like the old iphone, while galazy has no style at all.
Didn't know that. Deleted that post.I wish people would quit linking to Ozcar Guide stories. They are almost never accurate, if at all.

OP, both of these phones will be good either way you look at it but neither are out yet so all we can do is speculate. I think the best way to make your decision would be to play with them at a store and see which you'd prefer.

Actually that could very well be a true article, wasn't the HTC head guy quoted that they were looking to bring out such a phone 2gz dual processor, by the end of the year? I can find the article, i know it was on engadget and phonedog.
