My battery life has gone to crap since the update today. Has sat on my desk for 2 hrs. and 30 mins., and went from 96% to 83% with no use. I am fully stock. Is the VZW Location Service eating battery, as I read that it was. If so, is there a way to disable it in CleanTool?

Settings>location and disabling the check box isn't working for you?
Any idea what the update was? I haven't seen anything.

Just ran Cleantool 2.1.1 after installing VZW update. Tried to remove all bloat. It shows "superuser" now, but the bloat is still there. Any suggestions?
USB debugging checked
HTC Sync disabled
Charge mode
Did I miss anything?

When i tried it, su and busybox were not properly installed. I saw the su app, but i saw an error when running the temp root from the clean tool. see attached.

apps that require root like titanium backup and battery calibration that worked fine before the update with temp root won't work now.

There could still be things that you consider bloat that weren't on the list to be disabled. Also, reboot after running because some things just don't go away. Lastly look in /data/app(with a File explorer) for the apps you still see. If they've updated(and they probably have) the version you're seeing is sitting in there. If you delete that, it will go away.

I still suggest to always assume that an OTA will break root. It did without fail on the Droid X.

Usually all that's required now is patience until someone finds a new root method.

Please forgive my miscommunication. Everyone here has been more then helpful. I just have not had the time I need to sit down and actually learn. Also the Android Dictionary is missing some stuff so i get lost at times are to certian things like RUU ... dictionary doesn't have that.

I meant no disrespect.

Also Part scared because i haven't had time to learn so just jumping in is very duanting...

that's what it seems like. hopefully there will be a fix as I don't want to go the unlocked bootloader route yet.

The forums have a nice little tool built into them for specific terms like RUU, OTA, SU, and other android terminology. If you notice in the post that a word is underling like those three, hover your mouse over it and you get a description of what the acronym means.

Ok folks I have a major major thing going on here. I can not get my phone to go into temp root. Heck when it's now plugged into the computer the computer won't even see it. I've run clean tool before but I've added a few items to the list and now it won't do anything.

I've at one point tried to unlock it but got as far as the bootloader and never could figure out where to go or what to do from there so I just quit and this may be the issue I did a factory rest hoping that fix it but nope that didn't work and god konws I hate setting up a phone but looks like I got t ogo thru it all again.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

One time, I had it checked, but it did not work. I unchecked it and rechecked it and it worked.

What does Hump for Temp Root mean and how do I unhump this sucker?

Oh USB Debugging is or was on so thats not issue and phone was in charge mode only
