[TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Clean!

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

Negative. I'll try to clarify.
1.) Enable Sense (I'm assuming you already have it enabled anyway.)
2.) Menu > Settings > Applications > Running Services > All > HTC Sense > Clear Defaults
3.) Hit the home button. A box will pop up asking which launcher to use. Check off the box at the bottom to set it as default, and click on the launcher you downloaded.
4.) Run CleanTOOL on your phone. (Remember, HTC Sync OFF, Charge Only, Debugging ON, etc etc)
5.) Run Temp Root.
6.) Run disable Sense command
7.) Reboot phone.

You're all set.

that's what i was doing but so i tried it again.

same thing. non responsive screen, no icons, just status bar and my wallpaper. luckily in that 20 seconds of me staring at the screen trying to get some sort of response from the buttons or the display - i got a text, and for a brief second it asked me to choose my launcher (ADW OR ADW EX), the two i have installed. but then handcent popup showed up over it, i closed it and nothing again.

so i kept sending myself texts via gmail, sent like 6 but same thing. so then i sent the text and waited for the popup to go away, and voila, right behind it was the dialogue box asking me to choose from those two launchers, no sense. and there you go.

im onboard.

Just used this. I have not ever done ANYTHING remotely like this before. I didn't know how to install the USB drivers but I eventually figured it out. This thing worked incredibly. I will be donating. Just a side note, maybe include a link to where people can get the USB drivers. Thanks again Scott!

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

I ran this today and it worked great, bloat gone. However, I noticed that my signal indicator is showing 1x, not 3g. I used the browser and got on line but really, really slow. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix besides reloading all the bloat? :(

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

It's not the clean tool, it's the VZW network. Many people are experiencing data outages.

Don't reload bloat. Verizon is having major data outages nation wide.

Seems we have a two-faced sword. 4G/3G network down and unlocked bootloader. VZW givith and taketh away :D

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

OK, so I've tried this and other temp root options and have had no luck. I decided to give it one more go, actually I probably would have tried several more times, but I may have had a break through, but maybe not??? Anyway, MrSmith told me to post over here for some guidance. In the past I haven't had any results to post but this time I think I do. Right now however my screen has gone blank as though it were trying to restart but hasn't done anything for like over 5 min. What do I do? Did the root work? Is it ok to force it to restart? There's nothing on the screen so that would likely be a battery pull. Will I loose root if I pull the battery?

Update:
Went ahead and pulled the battery. Nothing changed. Tried Cleantool again, and it worked. Two things were going on, one I may or may not have had the drivers properly installed, which may have been why some of the other root options didn't work, and when I was using Cleantool I kept skipping over #1, trying to go straight to #2. My app drawers are now clean and Thanks Scott.

Checklist

1) USB Debugging is enabled on the phone

2) HTC Sync is removed or stopped on the PC

3) USB drivers are working(PC can see the Phone)

4) Phone is in "charge only" mode

5) CleanTool(Run it)

Then you either don't have the drivers installed on the PC or there's another problem. You're not supposed to be able to see anything on the phone in charge mode. However your PC should recognize that a device was plugged in(because of USB debugging). Did you install the HTC USB drivers? If so, did you remove HTC Sync from your computer or at least close/stop it?

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

Re: [TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Cl

You have to install the HTC drivers

1. Install HTC USB drivers
2. Plug the phone into the PC(Phone in charge only mode)
3. Run Clean Tool
4. Profit..???

There's an ICS leak, and nobody knows what will and won't work yet. It should if all the security holes are still there.

They're not actually removed, they're frozen/disabled. CleanTool has an option to bring back things or not remove them at all given whichever option you chose. Try option 4
