Okay I'm about to purchase a droid x when it drops on july 15th. I am new to android phones and wanted to make sure it was comparable (aka just as good as) the following phones.

HTC Desire
HTC Droid Incredible
HTC Evo 4G
Samsung Galaxy S
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

To my knowledge these are the best android phones known. If I am missing out on any please leave a link for them below.

Depends on what you want, I think the Droid X is the best, with the Inc coming in second, after that I just could't care, so pick based on Sense vs Base Android with a couple blur widgets that you can turn off, and Smaller screen vs Huge screen.

The X plays in the same league as all the phone's you listed, but they are all very different phones due to their UI's, screen sizes, screen technology, network abilities, aesthetics and so forth. I guess it depends on what's features are important to you, as an individual, that will be the deciding factor. Personally I'm torn between the Samsung and X. Both are great phones, and each has characteristics that appeal to me. They also both have characteristics that don't appeal to me, making the decision really difficult.

Eww don't get the Samsung, even looking at TVs by them I get a bad taste in my mouth....Damned Omnia 1 and 2

See my sig:

well said.

Although to the OP: I wouldn't compare the Sony Xperia with the other phones. all the rest are running 2.1 and will almost assuredly get upgraded to 2.2. Experia IIRC is still running 1.6 and they don't know when it will be upgraded to 2.1 let alone 2.2.
