Totally disappointed with display and camera.

Not sure if anyone else has this issue but so far I am not liking the Pixel 3 XL display compared to the 2XL. I have both phones side by side and my wallpaper and my entire photo gallery looks a lot less "saturated" on the Pixel 3XL. Looking at the display options they both have "Natural" and "Boosted" but the Pixel 3XL has adaptive while the 2XL has Saturated. All my pictures look much worse on the 3XL compared to the saturated images in 2 XL. Is anyone else seeing this? If that's by design I wish they would have left a saturated option.

I've compared my Pixel 2 XL with my Pixel 3 XL. For me my Pixel 3 XL is far superior. Whites are actually white! My Pixel 3 XL screen is in a whole different league.

I also have them both side by side and it's no comparison the 3 blows it away and the camera is a notch better in all modes and sharper

You know what though, I'm kind of not thrilled with monthly updates as it seems every couple months something gets broken.

I have experienced the same with ios10, 11 and 12 releases...it seems things maybe getting so complex for the software manufacturers to consider so many scenarios and form factors (even iOS) that every update breaks something nowadays

I have the same issue, I posted about it before after I saw the demo units.
My 2 XL is more saturated then the 3XL, i got my 2XL months after it came out so I think I have a great screen on mine. I saw a 2XL at the Verizon store and it looked awful.
So I guess if you are coming from a 2XL with a bad screen then yes, the 3XL looks great but if you already had a 2XL with a great screen then this one looks a bit washed out.

But I must say that after using the 3XL for a few days , I really like the screen. I got used to the muted colors. Just don't put it sided by side with some of the other phones with saturated screens.

So my conclusion is that the 3XL has a great screen, just use it for a while.

That is so true .. what happened with ios...back in the day the software use to be solid

That just sucks. It would have been nice to have that saturated option again. I found a thread on Reddit also discussing this. Of course I cant find it now. Just sucks holding the two phones side by side and seeing the 2xl having nicer colors.

I have what I would call a great screen on my 2XL and the colors are very close to the 3XL. After I read your post, I put them side by side and what stands out on my Pixel 3XL is the detail in photos seems sharper.

Edit: also adaptive is not the same as saturated and is supposed to adjust based on content.

I am glad that you like the screen better, I am pretty happy with it also, the screen is sharp and the whites are a little whiter. I kinda like the not so bright colors now.

I compared the 3XL to an iPhone 10s Max yesterday and I like the screen on the 3 XL better.

It wouldn't be a Pixel launch without someone complaining loudly about the screen and/or the camera.
