Hello,

Just recieved my Incredible on Tuesday and so far it's lived up to it's billing but I did find one problem. The touch buttoms (home, menu, ect..) don't light up all the time, sometime's they don't at all or they light up a few minutes later. I stopped by Verizon and they never heard of this but they did check the two in the store and the light's didn't work either. They noted it on my acount and said they would let me know if they found a solution. Has anyone else had this problem or maybe a solution?

Thanks,

Mike

If you have the screen set to auto brightness, it will not light up the keys when you are in certain light levels. Try covering the sensor, the keys will light up in a couple of seconds.

Thanks for the quick response, I didn't have it on auto brightness but tried it and it did work! When I take it off auto the lights still don't light up, I keep the brightness level under 50, could that be the problem?

There is no problem, and shame on the Verizon techs for not knowing how their equipment works. No matter what you have the brightness set to, the lights will always turn on/off based on the ambient light.

I have noticed this too. It is a little annoying because it seems as though it is a problem, when in reality it isn't...

Yes, that is really poor of Verizon techs. The light sensor detects if you can "see them" based on the brightness outside in the environment. If it's dark outside, the light sensor detects this lack of light and lights up the buttons. If you're in the sunlight, it assumes that you can see the symbols on the keys and turns off the light. Really, this is a great feature because it auto saves battery. It would be interesting to see how much battery it would consume with them on all the time.

Mine works this way as did my Blackberry Storm

Thats crazy that people go into verizon for a solution that is pretty simple and they have no clue.

That said, I think its much better contacting the manufacture of the device rather then the business that just sold it to you.

This is the same old song and dance.

My current phone has the same feature, but the feature was mentioned no where in the phone literature. No one at Verizon stores or CS could tell me what the 'issue' was. I even returned my original because of it, not finding out til later it was a built in feature.

They SHOULD know about it, but in their defense, with so many phones coming in and out its tough to know which one has what small feature.

I love proving the VZW techs wrong..its a sport!
