Touch Wiz lacks.

I am not a fan of touch wiz but could have learned to live with it had it supported landscape without cutting apps off. That sealed it's fate for me. Why can't phone maker allow the option of allowing the desktop to rotate? I understand maybe everyone might not like it that way but they could at least give the option!

My Note 3 is my first Android device (coming from iPhone 4S) and I put plenty of research into it. I installed Nova Prime on day one and haven't looked back. I've often wondered how Nova Prime compares with Touchwiz as regards battery consumption. Anyone have any ideas?

One thing that's always tickled my fancy is about 18 months ago, NO ONE complained about TouchWiz. Then one person on this site started saying he didn't like it, and MIRACULOUSLY everyone in the forums hated it too. And the ones who didn't hate it, weren't part of the cool club. Personally, I liked it a lot when I had my S3. And with my Nexus 5, I miss tons of stuff about it. I do agree that it needs a face lift and a more modern appearance. I also feel they need to thin it out and make it smoother for the phone to operate. However it is still a great experience to use.

I know. I was apart of that "not cool club" and shunned into the corner with an orange dunce cap and told to spin 4 times a day....all because I like TW.

Can I take this cap off now????

Strange thing to me is this. I'm an HTC fan for the most part so I tend to agree with most that complain about TW. It just seems to be to full of features if that's possible.

On the other hand LG is nearly as bloated but I find it much more appealing. Can't explain it

I'm an HTC fan too! I love my One...it's such an awesome phone my daughter wanted it bad so I gave it to her and gave the S4 to my wife. Now they are both in heaven! Wife came from the OG Evo.

TW is full of useless features. BUT to it's defense, some of those features rule the planet (in my world anyways) such as smart stay and air gestures. I will admit though, that on the S4 at first, it did stutter, lag, and was really annoying. But after the few updates, that subsided. On the N3, it's smooth as butter and I can't complain.

I can't speak for LG as I have never owned anything recent from them. But from what I have seen, it's pretty great. Too bad they haven't sold to many LG G2's to be relevant up with the top dogs. I'd like to see it as it would spark serious competition and possibly lower prices!

I do agree that TW needs a fresher look to it and needs to be optimized better for a smoother experience. I also really like all the features that come with TW, even the ones I don't use. I like being able to swipe a contact to the left to call them or to the right to send them a text. I like being able to lift the phone to my ear and it calls my contact while I'm in messaging. I really love palm swipe to do a screenshot and being able to say 'cheese' to take a picture. I also love the spen features as well! And I like that I can put nova launcher on my phone and keep all these TW features.

TW continues to improve with each iteration and I can appreciate a company that continues to do that. A Samsung device without TW, just wouldn't be a Samsung device.

I think TW actually looks okay. What drives me crazy is the bugs! I wish TW worked like a champion......but Samsung is building refrigerators, why should they focus on bugs like apple? I really hope Lenovo punches them out. They are way to big. Sent from the Samsung note 3, destroyer of all devices.

This might be a stupid question! But, how do you get the palm swipe to take a screen shot to work? When I've tried nothing works :-/ also is there some setting to make the "cheese" thing work? I just tried it, and like a right dafty my cat is looking at me like wtf are you doing??! Haha

Cheers!

For the Cheese capture you will find it under S voice/Camera.
For the palm screen shot you will find it under palm motion you have to activate it.

Thank you very much! Even almost 6 months into this phone there are features I am still learning about :-)

I've never tried Nova. I've been using Go now for several years. Previously I used LauncherPro, which I really liked, but Frederico stopped continuing development on it so I moved on. I still use TW every once in a while, but as someone who doesn't mind a busy screen and likes to have a lot of apps at my fingertip, TW just doesn't measure up. I suspect I'd like Nova as well. Anything that adds additional screens and dock spaces is alright with me. I like smaller icons as well.

I quite like touch wiz. I know it gets a lot of sick but I suppose I've grown fond of it over the years.

I like the little features like Palm swiping to take a screen shot, and sliding left or right in the dialer app to take make a call or send a text.

I also find it attractive.
