Touches not recognized on part of screen.

I got an Optimus G about a week ago. It's running the default software with whatever OTA updates I was able to install (4.0.4). So far it's been great, but today it quit recognizing input from part of the screen. I've attached a screenshot (I can't touch the bottom left). I tried a factory reset, but it didn't help. Is there anything else I can do that might get it to start working?

My brother had this problem with his note 2. Turns out the magnet part of the case he was using was messing with it. What I'm asking you is what kind of case are you using if any case at all and if there's anything that can interfere with the touch screen.

I don't have a case or anything that might be interfering. I'm guessing there's a problem with the digitizer. It was working in the morning and literally sat on my desk idle all day, so nothing environment wise has changed. I was really hoping it might be a software problem, but the more I learn, the less likely that seems.

I had the same problem with a portion of the left middle of the screen. I took it to a Sprint store and they said it was a hardware issue. I had a new one the next day. They also told me they've been seeing this problem consistently with this device. I've had no problems with the new one so far. Good luck.
