Trade-in Program on Google Store and Project Fi

Good news. I wonder if they will accept a Pixel bought through Verizon, and not via the Google Store as a trade-in ..

Good idea, but this part would have me concerned:

If there's no guarantee as to the form in which that credit would be issued, I'd pass - no way I'd accept a Google Play credit which can only be used for virtual goods/services.

$165!? WTF?

Looks like the scope of this trade-in program remains to be seen. I just got an email from Fi about the Moto X4, and that lil missive tied the up-to-$165 credit specifically and exclusively to purchasing a new Moto X4 through Project Fi. It said nothing about the 2017 Pixels.

Which could mean any number of things, but the most hopeful would have to be that there will be a similar trade-in program for the Pixels and that the dollar amount of possible credit will go up considering the higher price tags on those phones.

It's possible they have a larger stock of the 2016 models than that with which they are comfortable, and just signed in with a 3rd party to take trade-ins to help move them out the door before the 2017's launch.

I do expect them to continue the program with the new models, though, and adding the 2016 Pixel/Pixel XL...

But it'll be depressing to see Google's site offering more money to buy used iPhones than they will for used Pixels which originally sold for the same price... Unless Google subsidizes the difference that the 3rd party actually buying the used phones isn't willing to pay, to keep up appearances.

The 32GB XL I grabbed when they had the $200 discount is worth $400 - the Pixel 2 I want is "supposed" to be $649 - that's an out of pocket expense of $249 - not bad if you don't count all the previous out of pocket expenses to get to this point.

I hope this doesn't turn into where we are told it's worth one thing then get something much lower because of the value they assign it. The values you see are starting values and go down based on condition.

Google is offering an estimated trade in refund of $151 for my 6P (32GB) which IMHO, kind of low, so I also have an ad out on CL for more. But I'm thinking...

If I were to pre-order a Pixel 2 XL with the trade-in option but end up selling my 6P privately or not doing the trade-in, can I just cancel the trade-in portion or Google will just not ding me for not trading in?

so what if you have a Verizon pixel that you still owe a little one and decide to trade it in on Google's offer for say an unlocked pixel 2? what will happen with the Verizon amount that you owe?

You'd need to pay that off first unless you were trading in with Verizon.

well is anyone doing just the trade in?
they are sending me a kit to mail in my trade in but I am trading in my main phone?
