Trade in stolen

IMO, Samsung should have insurance on them since they paid shipping then they can just file a claim as stolen. I traded in a Active Watch last year and to this day the tracking still shows pending. Only entry was when I dropped off. Samsung didn't question anything in this case.

I just assumed that it's covered with the prepaid label and they never ask if you want to add insurance, nor do think it's possible to add it but don't know that for sure. It would be disastrous if it's not insured or if Samsung or Fedex doesn't make good on lost or stolen trades.

Unbelievable....first the trade in was delayed 2 days, than only one day, then the label was bad, than it couldn't be delivered because it was damaged???Screenshot_20220309-175104_FedEx.jpgScreenshot_20220309-172037_FedEx.jpg

I just got a email from Samsung saying they received an empty box. I'm going by the Fedex location I dropped it off at. Has anyone had this happen before? I know some phones have been stolen before, but haven't heard about the trade ins.

It's crazy how someone at Fedex or along the way can just take something out of the box, reseal it I presume. I've contacted Samsung and they said they would investigate, but I'm not sure what they can do about it.

I just got an email saying they never received mine. It's been a week and it says the tracking number doesn't exist.

Ours was shipped by UPS to Verizons Ft Worths intake center I received a Proof Of Delivery from UPS which I printed out.

The shipping address is always a dead giveaway for these crooks. When they see the address they have a very good idea of what's in the box.

Oh no! More headaches. I'm so sorry, hope they get this resolved for you quickly.
Yeah.....I contacted them them today and they confirmed I would have no issues. Gave me a reference number and a short time later received an email confirmation. I posted that in the trade in thread. This thread was actually for stolen units.

Glad this was quickly resolved for you. I must have missed reading the trade-in thread today.

I'm not sure what to believe actually happened. Since there was a delivery exception that implies it wasn't delivered. Who identified it as damaged....Fedex or Samsung? It was a well packed box so unless it got driven over or snagged on a conveyer belt, hot could it be damaged. Then again if the box was ripped open and the device missing what FedEx Tracking state....stolen or damage? I digress and I guess we will never know but my issue was quickly resolved.

The tracking exception is a little vague. It would be nice to know what exactly happened. However, it's great that Samsung didn't drag out resolving the problem.

Received notification and email Samsung received my trade-in. Now waiting 3-7 days for a reply on if it meets their specs. Did photos of imei and video of boxing. Also Video of shipping label and turning it in to FedEx.

We'll, I just received my "Your Box was Empty" notification.

"Because we received an empty shipping box from you instead of the Galaxy Note 10 you committed to send, your Credit Card account will be charged $270, "

I took photos, dropped it off at a FedEx location myself and have a receipt. I was hesitant but used the box the S22 shipped in as instructed.

WTH!

Update to my post above on the stolen trade-in...

I reached out to them via chat, provide photos of the device sitting in its OEM box, the sealed shipping box that they ask us to ship it in, the shipping label with weight and IMEI number all before they could ask for it. They immediately responded on the chat and followed it up with an email that the "Chargeback" was cancelled. All good for now, fingers crossed.

It's like for every 2-3 three my trade in was successful story we get my trade-in was stolen or other issues. This year is ridiculously large volume of FedEx/Samsung screw ups.

I thought the Note 10 was like $425? Of course I have the Note 10 + 4G version. The trade in value was $425... If it's $270 then I'll just keep my phone and pay them the $270

When I pre-ordered my note10+ was $425. I don't remember how much it was but the note10 was less in trade in. Right now it show note10+ at $500 and note10 $450.

Didn't get this in years past.

As I said, I suspect companies like Fedex, and the new distributor Samsung is using is laxing on background checks and hiring questionable people they wouldn't normally hire. Which is likely due to the labor shortage and desperately needing to find warm bodies. I know UPS has a warehouse labor issue because my packages sit there for days sometimes now and I was told due to staffing issues.

There has also been cases people having their new phones missing BUT the packaging wasn't tampered with. Those cases it's someone at the distributor either in a hurry and forgot to include it or stole it.

The trade in amount varied based on the device your purchasing, as least that is the case now. I went with the S22+ due to the size of the Ultra. It seems since the free storage upgrade offer expired they increased the trade in amounts to make up for the difference. But no longer the promo credits.
