Trade in stolen

I thought the Note 10 was like $425? Of course I have the Note 10 + 4G version. The trade in value was $425... If it's $270 then I'll just keep my phone and pay them the $270

Yes, the $270 is for the standard Note 10. I got that for mine. However, they have upped the trade-in allowance to $300 for the standard Note 10.

When I pre-ordered my note10+ was $425. I don't remember how much it was but the note10 was less in trade in. Right now it show note10+ at $500 and note10 $450.

I just checked. The trade-in for the Note 10 (standard) for purchase of a S22+ is only $325, and for the S22U = $450 (for the unlocked 256 gb one)

I'm probably going to keep the phone and not do the trade in and just pay the extra $425. Was thinking of keeping it as a backup incase something happens to the new phone. And all of the horror stories I'm reading about trade in phones getting stolen...

My bad I only searched the s22u lol. Didn't realize you got the s22+ think I've just had the ultra stuck in my head since I ordered one lol.

I just got a email from Samsung saying they received an empty box. I'm going by the Fedex location I dropped it off at. Has anyone had this happen before? I know some phones have been stolen before, but haven't heard about the trade ins.

It's crazy how someone at Fedex or along the way can just take something out of the box, reseal it I presume. I've contacted Samsung and they said they would investigate, but I'm not sure what they can do about it.

This just happened to me this week! Very frustrating. I was trading in a ZFold3 for S22 Ultra, I received an email from Samsung Trade-in expecting it to be a $900 credit completion notification, but it was letting me know I'd be CHARGED $900 because I sent an empty box. I chatted with Samsung rep and all they did was confirm that the box was empty after viewing video footage. I filed a claim on the FedEx website and I'm currently waiting for a response. Clearly we wouldn't send an empty box if we are looking forward to the credit being applied to the cost of our new phone! My trade-in was sent to a Tennessee location. I'm sure the thief realized that destination is a Samsung facility and probably got several phones and tablets. Good luck!

What a horrible thing to have happened, OP! This is not the first instance I've heard of FedEx committing theft over the past few weeks. It's shaken my trust in them and I'm not happy that they are being so underhanded. I hope you get everything sorted out soon.

If Samsung didn't resolve it for me as easy as they did via chat I was going to dispute the charge on my CC. Maybe that's an option to for you?

I rhought of doing that when my trade was reported as damaged but in the back of my mind realized that they might have the upper hand since they can blacklist your device. Luckily my issue was resolved.

I filed a dispute with my credit card company because of the absolute runaround they gave me about the missing S22U from my order. 5 days later when they finally agreed to refund and price match a reorder, they cancelled several reorder attempts because of that dispute, despite my credit card company approving the new charge(s). My last order was confirmed, but only after an interesting conversation with Samsung. They were not happy I filed the dispute. And the pending charge for the new order has disappeared from credit card records. Credit card company says Samsung agreed to settle the dispute on original order. But only time will tell if I ever get the most recently reordered phone.

So yes, dispute with credit card company is an option, but I would give Samsung a chance first to make things right as, at least in my case, they do not seem to take kindly to one involving others.

Yeah....disputes are not good for retailers.

I shipped my trade in last Wednesday but it's stuck in transit and not delivered yet. Last it left a place in Oregon and was supposed to be delivered in Texas in Tuesday but current status is delivery date unknown. FedEx opened a case but they couldn't track where it is now. Either they are super backed up or someone stole the entire box in transit. They told to wait till next Monday and then contact Samsung with the FedEx case Id.

I have used swappa as well but even there it's a risk with shipping. I'm in Seattle area it's easily pretty easy to find a local buyer in Seattle area for me. Should have gone that route. I generally post on offer up or similar apps for local sale.

That's really unfortunate. I used the FedEx close to me in U District to send mine back went without a hitch and was the final day to send it back.

Any updates on your situation, OP? FedEx is being a pain for me too, but not to the extent that it has been for you! I'll hesitate before ever using them again.

The key thing with the new phones being stolen is because they have the lithium battery warning on them so it alerts them there is something electronic on the box. Dunno about trade in though. My box I used wasn't marked with the battery thing. I used a priority box I had laying around.

I don't recall my new phone saying Samsung on the shipping label. Only way they'd know is if that address they knew was where Samsung ships from.

I think the address is a giveaway

See I tried that and when I got my money back Samsung replied with a nice little message on my phone saying it's been blocked by Samsung for incomplete trade in and that I needed to send said device in order to get my new phone unblocked. Currently REALLY pi**ed off. I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a bypass for this

If you're in the US, then if you've opted out of binding arbitration, you can take Samsung to court; otherwise, you're at the mercy of Samsung or their arbiters. Did you take photos of the trade-in device as you were packing it up?

I sure did and they still rejected my claim complete with a video with my ID, Face to show I match the ID, the video shows the phones IMEI and they STILL smacked it down. Just dumbfounded

Wow. And you sent it using their shipping label, directly from a FedEx Shipping Center, and you got a receipt?
